Considering the quality of NF bullets and that they reach max expansion around 2100-2200fps,
If you were to load the 240gn.338win then proceeded to load the 250gnNF in calibres 358,366,375 in same size case but with their respective increase in velocity for calibre, do you feel you would have an advantage with any particular one over another?
Do you feel, or have you found, the extra speed of the 250-.375 make up for what is looses in SD?

I´ve used both the 9,3x62 and .375 with the same bullet weight and type and can´t really see a difference on soft skinned/PG type animals. My guess is that the marginal differences become obvious in situations that are sub-optimal ie badly placed shots, angling shots etc. I know I´d rather shoot a lion with a .375!

i get what yer saying...

i do think you can up the dia but the mushrooms will be larger and get less penetration compared to smaller dia n.f.'s (but these penetrate verrrry well). also with the near 100% weight retention it adds to yer philosophy. also the larger the dia the less bullet in the case for those carts that are short on case volume.

what game are you hunting, what shots are you taking and what cart are you thinking?

Boomstick,I suppose im asking across a variety of circumstance, say one knows how to place his shots in the first place, and had to drill an on coming Bbear at 50yd, or drill a moose at 300yds, would it make much diff. whether one had 240nf-338win,250nf.358nm or 250nf-375T?
maybe 250-.375T with its combined higher initial momentum&frontal area has advantage at close range situation, and at 300yd moose, it may become more level pegged with the other rounds. If that is the case, then 250.375 makes more sense......!
