Hornady has introduced a new match bullet called the Atip.

It forgoes the ELD tip for an Aluminum tip.

Seems the tip would be beaten/deformed in the box under recoil. The tip of the bullet is suppose to be caliber specific.

I killed a lot of game with the old Remington bronze point bullets

Dunno about aluminum or "bronze", but when I use a kinetic puller on Accubonds the plastic tip gets crunched. No matter how delicate I am with it.

They make good foulers or velocity test bullets then.

stop hitting them with the hammer puller and they won't do that.

I've shot some 6.5 135 grain A-tips.

I've heard the bullet is designed for target, not game so any discussion about using it on game comes with the usual "match" bullet warning.

They look like the cat's meow but reality for me was they shot almost the exact same groups that my ELD-Match bullets shot.

More testing to come since I have another box.

I do not know this, but my impression is they are suppose to be a budget alternative to the ELD line.

True, but my collet type marks them up. Luckily only had to pull a dozen.

I use a kinetic (hammer-type) puller. To prevent damage to the bullet tips, I merely put a foam rubber ear plug at the bottom of the hammer and the bullet tip hits the foam plug. You can dump the bullet and powder into a container, unharmed. To remove the foam plug, just get a short pice of wire and form a small hook at the end.

They are not a budget alternative, probably the most expensive small bore bullet on the market.

They are very consistent.
They have very high bc.
I like them, but not enough to pay the extra dough over the ELD-M.
