Ok, so if I were to go with a 300 H&H, what would be the best build process? Pre-64 Winnie Action from the factory, but already cut as a 300? Start with a used .375 H&H action and rebarrel?

If I went with an older rifle, I'm likely looking at a big restocking project - which is fine. I like wood!

Thoughts?

Regards,

Robert

Yes...start there and work up. If you look...you can find one!

That's a fair point on the restocking.

P-64 if you put in the time looking for a rifle.
Or you can use any M70 Classic. I have one in 270 and was quoted about 200$ to open the bolt face, change the bolt stop and remove the magazine block to make it full length.

These can be had around 5-700$

One could also do the same with a CZ550. If you wanted to start from scratch you can buy CZ550 actions from Midway and I think Brownells, just get a magnum length box with a .532 bolt and you're good to go.

I love the 300 Win, its a great cart. But you have a safe full of CLASSIC carts like the 7x57 and 375. Put another one in there to keep them company Wink

If you think every possible niche has been filled already, thank a wildcatter!

Ok, so I DID buy a rifle! Just put some money down on one!

And since it's going to take 10 days to get here (/sigh) we can all play 20 questions!

First hint: Yes, it's used. Big Grin

Robert
