Hmmmmmmmmmmm, Too much of a good thing? (Say it ain't so.) The one good part is that you can use a slow powder to keep the pressures down. I think that a full length H&H case (9.3/8mm Rem Mag; 366 Weatherby; 9.3 STW; etc.) is about the sensible top end. Many thanks for the article! I will put that on the hard drive, and print out a copy for inclusion in the 9.3 book. One diameter, one world! LD

There you have it gang! The basic short magnum (as in based on a shortened H&H Magnum case) version in 9.3mm is called the .366 Barbie. I love it!

I dunno about that, but I am having some prurient thoughts about a 9,3-375 Ruger. Y'see I have this 1908 Brazilian Obendorf Mauser... Rich DRSS

I'm with Sharpshooter...I've been salivating at the idea of a 9.3 x 375 Ruger ever since I saw a line drawing of the Ruger cartridge last year and think it would be the absolute berries for my CZ Ah'Melican instead of doing a x64 Brennke or SAKO x66 conversion!!! Can you say 20-25% mo' powdah in a CZ 550's standard length magazine and still mebbe get 4 down instead of 5...just about perfect for pushin' TSX or AB 250's at 27+/2800?-2900??? and 286's at the normal 200 fps slower in a already 7 1/2lb+, double pinned shooter with a decelerator outta the factory...come ON Hornady ship some brass NOW and let's 'le bon ton rule'. I predict theres gonna be lotsa conversions off the new Ruger case and the 9.3 is a instant winnah foh shuh'! Ron

I sure agree with the first part here. This case will be catted to everything from 7mm to .470 in six months /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Did someone hear some info about a 9.3 Ultra Mag Cartridge? I'm not sure, maybe I saw one on an Italian magazine.... bye Stefano Waidmannsheil

Oh go with the DGW what have you got to loose? you can get info on it at customguns.us A 300 grain Swift A Frame at near 2900 feet per second and with 48,400 C.U.P. is not bad and with a 250 grain slug it is rather flat shooting. Sight in the rifle 2.35" high at 100 yards and at 500 you will be down 24.5" but still have 3063 foot pounds of energy, not bad for 23.5" of effective barrel. It is not what you hunt with, it is how you hunt that matters!

Only curiosity, really, the quantity of powder near the same ....well interesting. 9.3/.366 is growing faster in tha attention of a lot of people, technician of industries included. It seems bye Stefano Waidmannsheil

For commercial sale I plan on the 9.3 x 57, 9.3 x 62, 9.3 x 66, and 9.3 x 64. On special order will be the 9.3 x 70EM. If the interest is there I would special order 9.3 x full length H&H brass and 9.3 x 338/458.

While I understand the likings off classics like '74, '62 and '64, making new cartridges in this diameter really puzzles me. Since they are not legal all over, why? To neck up from 9,3 to .375 makes so much more sence!?! The .375x64 must be the best cartridge ever, ever, ever, ever................! I almost faint when i think of the good people at Steyr, chopping off 4mm................. Bent Fossdal Reiso 5685 Uggdal Norway

bent...if the 375x64 is the best everx4 what is the 375 ruger? bent...the 9,3 is an incurable disease that turns people into zombies...run or one might catch you! but seriously... if i am hunting d.g. i am packing something fatter than the 375... i think the 9,3's and 375 are for moose, bear and large plainsgame but can kill a stray rabbid buff in a pinch imho. i think the 9,3's is all about smackdown and euronostalgia... i salute and applaud l.d. for his endeavour 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. 1. Different than what we have always used. That is an American trait. 2. For the same (or nearly the same) weight of projectile there is more sectional desity, and thus better penetration. 3. Also, the velocity is more resonable so bullets don't fly apart or over expand (for the older cartridges). 4. Nostalgia for the old country. More Americans come from German ancestry than any other country of origin (even Mexico!).

The Ruger has a wider case, wich reduces magazine capasity, more velocity = more recoil, unless you have a heavier gun. Shortly, power and bulk you do not need, IMO.
Hm............. well not many 9,3's in 270 grs, nor .375's in 286 grs. But even so.........you know this is just in theory, right? For fun an hell and America, I have no objections. Bent Fossdal Reiso 5685 Uggdal Norway

talk about a killing machine in an affordable package...? My '08 Brazilian Obendorf Mauser, the DST and engraved floor plate and trigger guard I got from Steve Bertram, a classic euro stock, and a 26" medium contour barrel...about 9lbs with 3-9Leupold. It would work for me. Rich DRSS

That is the key - getting your bullet to perform optimally within its operating window - high enough to open up, but within its threshold strength. Warrior

Paul du Plessis from Pretoria shows his buff off that he shot in Tanzania in this month's African Outfitter - page 17. A beaut with a very nice boss. Shot with his 9,3 x 62 mm, using the new 286 gr Barnes TSX bullet @ 2,200 fps. One shot on the shoulder followed up with an insurance shot - both retrieved bullets look splendid - 100% weight retention. The PH was Eugene Visagie. There can be no better ad for the TSX. Bent. If you want to compare you can come close, go to 300 gr bullets. Both in 9.3 and 375!!! Packy
