So there I was... out poaching hunting and up to no good with a bunch of my Obama Supporter friends...

we got together after getting our 12 weekly Obama Checks down at the welfare office, under 12 different aliases....

so after a few beers... well actually a 12 pack...

we decided to go out poaching hunting...

so I grab my trusty 17 HMR... with the gold barrel and the Obama Black Synthetic Stock on it.. with the picture of Nancy Pelosi bilaterally on each side of the cheek piece...

we are driving along planning our trip down to Vegas where we can work for ACORN to help Harry Reid get re elected... ( they give us a free voucher for 'entertainment' at the Mustang Ranch..)....

and low and behold... standing out in the middle of the forest service road is this Elk...

so we did what any good democrat would do in a situation like this....Exploit it!

we jumped out and hosed it down good with our 17 HMRs and 10/22s ( Obama Editions)....

since we are Democrats and Obama Supporters and ACORN Employees, we didn't need a license or have to check it in with Fish and Wildlife....

ACORN told us that as employees that laws don't apply to us...

but the trusty 17 HMR killed that Elk dead as a door nail...

and the amazing thing, it only took 38 shots to the head to do so.... assisted with maybe 4 clips of 25 rounds out of the other 3 guys 10/22's ( Obama Edition)...

Teancum and Hot Core are going to be so proud of me..and my trusty 17 HMR...

BOOM...... horse

UPdate.....

we found out that since the 'elk' had no antlers at the time.. it wasn't really an elk... it turned out to be some guys Horse...

Fish and Wildlife told us the Saddle should have given that away...

well since we can't eat it now.. we took it back out where we found it..... Big Grin

but we did take pictures for our ACORN office and will be sending a few pics to MR Obama to hang proudly in the Oval Office..

Seafire,

Well done and spot on. This just goes to show those skeptics that the policy of head shots only will ..............eventually work out just fine. Those that look down their noses at this shot placement are the uninformed and newbys and usually from the Carolinas.

I was thinking of my planned elk hunting trip this year back in Kentucky. Why would I hunt in Kentucky when I live in one of the greatest elk hunting areas in the world???? One of my closest buddies put me on to those hunts back there. Sometimes the elk in Kentucky will have antlers!!!!!!

I was pondering on the use of the 17HMR or my .223 Blue Dot loads that I could use out of my newly acquired Model 70 Pre-64 Wood stocked shooter. Some idiots don't understand the workmanship and craftsmanship that went into these rifles that hasn't been matched by anything new coming from those plastic toys put out by FN. How sad.

Anyways thanks for helping me with my caliber selection..................... its the 17HMR all the way.

Poke fun as you wish

Yet, I have been amazed with the 17HMR

-- the SOLID 20 gr has been amazing on hogs

--Head Shots out to about 75 yds are DRT

have not tried it beyond that--yet,

I understand that the direction taken by this post was not about practical use

Howvever, much as I disbelieved P.O. Ackley and his praise of the Mach IV

(until I built one)

the "sub-calibres" nonetheless are at times amazing it their capabilities

No part of my post was directed toward you nor your 17HMR. I'm not familiar with that cartridge at all and was only addressing my comments toward my best Hunting Buddy from the Carolinas. Sorry if any of that posting splashed on you.

I have P.O. Ackley's two books and they make for interesting reading drawn from his experiments with high velocity small caliber rounds. I enjoy shooting my smallest caliber .223 at high velocities 3900+ fps with those magical 40g. NBTs stuffed with Searfire's recommendation for powder in the RL-7. Great fun and amazing performance on the smaller mule deer available here in a hunting unit here in Idaho. It's been successful and effective on a host of other critters also. I agree with Ackley.

No offense taken.

(After all, I was the interloper/hijacker in this case)

I was merely reflecting my own amazement at the tiny rounds' effect at short range.
