what about doing a 348 winchester based wildcat for the bfr using the 375 and 411 pistol and rifle bullets??? we know the 50 alaskan can be built on the bfr and the parent case is the 348 win but what about the 375-348??? more power or lower preasure than the 375 jdj expand trim and stuff...easy! the 411 no brainer! cheap pistol bullets and if you trim the case enough you could do the 400 gr woodleigh rifle bullets. the 375 is compelling cuzz of the down range and the 411 well you know...excuse me while i duck p.s. you could just trim the case and use the 348 win bullets with no other mods...or can you say... 35-348 B.F.R.? still ducking 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. Check out Gary Reeder's site. He has a couple of big bore Encore handguns based on the 348 Win. A 416GNR and a 450 GNR(458 Caliber). ______________________ Age and Treachery Will Always Overcome Youth and Skill

Both would work.....the only thing is as bullet weight drops, it gets harder to burn large powder charges in 10" barrels. You may not get the sort of velocity you're after. Even the .50 Alaskan & .500 Martin are inefficient out of a short tube. They work, but there's still a lot of unburned powder (and they use 500+ grain bullets). Lee Martin www.singleactions.com

lee...yeah the only down side is the unburnt powder but it was still such a neet idea i thought to put it out there...some people like the 375 and 411 calibers. me i am in love with the 50 alaskan bfr idea right now. p.s. lee have you tried the pointy 300 gr hornady .500 bullet in youre 500 martin yet? in the 500 s+w it has impressive numbers Velocity (fps) / Energy (ft-lbs) Muzzle 50 yd 100 yd 2050/2799 1861/2307 1685/1890 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. Boomstick....I like the idea of .375 or .411 on a BFR. Are you thinking of having one built? As for the .500 Martin, I haven't tried the spire point 300's yet, but will in the near future. Thanks, Lee Martin www.singleactions.com

not in the near future...to many hands in my back pocket right now just wanted to throw the idea out there to the unwashed masses to see what they think (lee not included in the unwashed masses) but the idea had merrit and i am curious as to how well a 375-348 would do ballisticly. they might make a neet future project for you if you have the desire. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. I've toyed with the idea of doing a .416 JDJ or .416 Barnes on a BFR.....the .375 JDJ would also be a nice alternative in that the brass is cheaper than .348 Win. Lee Martin www.singleactions.com
