Hi guys ! ! ! I just arrived from many days of hunt and travel with Billinthewild by Uruguay, (Thanks Lorenzo!

) Cordoba and Corrientes.
We traveled to Esquina on Sunday 5 , The main pourpose of this trip was that Bill take his first Buffalo, wich was succefull

and ended with a nice track of the beast into the bush to find it death like a rock, Well done Dear Gringo !!!

(See "Buffalo" on S. American forum). After finding Bill´s bufallo into the bush, pressed

by few minutes of light due the close sunset, I decided to try to take a nice cow with the Smithy, otherwise We would have to come back in other ocassion

.
Following the bush limits, Me and the Guys found a 15 buffaloes herd, No interesting Males there, but a nice old cow, perfect for the first handgun try, to test the 500 Magnum performance. Not too much conveced

about the effectivity of a Handgun on the animals of this size. I asked to the Guy: if the Buffalo runs after My first Hit, stop Her with a bullets rain

! ! ! I dont want to go to look for a wounded Buffalo in the middle of the night in heavy bush

. Thanks to God & S&W this was not necesary.
I put My Camelback as a shooting rest, aimed to the middle of the neck and sent the first "Lead-cucumber", I hit a little bit low and the bullet passed through the esophagus and trachea ? the other animals started to run like a hell, but this one remained a little disoriented, but soon it started a short trot, I shot again, this time behind the shoulder, this stopped the animal for a few seconds. In the meaning time, Juan that was with the binoculars in one hand, and in the other His Marlin Guide Gun, told Me: take it easy Guille !!! , You hit twice !!!, I aimed again, but this time more carefully, and I hit behind the ear, the Buffalo falled down like an imploding building, I finished him with a shot in the head. Everything happened very fast to My wishes

, but I have to admit that was a great experience. That night We ate the most tasty buffalo tenderloins BBQ that I ever tasted

.Thanks Juan for the Hunt, thanks Bill for bringing Me the Leupold Handgund scope for the task and others..... and both Iki and Bill for the Back-Up

. I really enjoyed with all of You this new adventure. I hope You like. Regards.Guille.

juanpozziCongratulations to GUILLERMO AMESTOY i guided many ,handgun hunters and bow hunters ,and i heard a lot of riflemen saying oh just use a big bore rifle and dont cause problems to the PHs .I believe i both cases the succes of the hunt depends mostly in two things FIRST the shooter must be excellent to hunt DG with this weapons,SECOND penetration ,use adecuate bullet.
Guillermo was one of the best rifle shooters in the country and trains daily with pistol ,his 3 shots were perfect.Juan

Dick, if I could I would be there much more often.
These two guys are good friends, and great folks to be with.....and Guille can make magic with his revolver. Had to cancel two trips in the past few months but will get that sorted out.....
How far are you from Boise?

Sure, what the hell I don't have a wife to abuse me....
Cost....varies a great deal depending on outfitter used...my guess would be in the $3,000 to $4,000.00 range (+ airfare), and would probably include birds and boars.
Post that question on the South American site....
Care is recommended....to make sure the proper paper work is in order so you can bring the trophy back.....
