Sorry no pic's

My son,are buddy and I just arrived back at the house from hunting.
I noticed a nice buck standing in the feild Right next to the house The closest gun I had at hand was my Ti 41.

I drew my 41 took a soild rest and touch one off at about 65 yards. We could see that I hit it. It took off running to the right my son and buddy ran towards where it dissappeared.

All of a sudden it comes running back towards us on a angle my buddy shoots at it. My son kneels and takes a shot I could see the impact from his 338wm.( We shoot at them as long as they are moving and have a chance to escape.)

The buck disappears across the neighbors fence. We check for blood and found spray. I walk over to the neighbors house and ask permission to go get it. It was granted.

We follow the blood trail 60 yards and found it laying dead in the woods.

During the processing we found my 215 hard cast @1050 fps did a perfect across the chest right behind the shoulders. Taking out both lungs. The other shot entered just behind the ribs angling forward across the chest That deer was dead on its feet not kowing it.

Fun was had by one and all.( Well maybe not the Deer) Big Grin My daughter who got home a bit before us was mad she wasn't looking out the window. She didn't get a deer this year. The only shot she had she dead centered a 3 in tree about 20 feet in front of her deer. She was not a happy camper. Iam going to cut tree and give it too her as a Xmas gift.

Way to go p dog shooter.

Now if I can get one in my sights.

On George's land we don't kill button bucks or bucks with less than a 15 inch spread.
So I have passed up quit a few smaller bucks.

If a doe comes in, look out, I am going to take her. I have been taking my Ruger Super Redhawk in 480 Ruger, hope to get some blood on it.

Redhawk, tell them the whole story. Actually, they wait for me to go on vacation and then they blast anything brown and tell me they shot it on the state land nearby. LMAO

George,

I know several people who operate on the "if it's brown it's down" philosophy.

MS, I am one that does not believe in trophy hunting at all. To just kill an animal for bragging or money instead of food, herd control or the hunting experience itself seems wrong to me.
To raise huge bucks and dictate which one to shoot is only commercial crap. To sit in a house overlooking a food plot and to say I will let this one go because he is not big enough is not hunting just selective shooting. To have a deer stand there and feed while an hour is spent evaluating his antlers with binoculars sounds real exciting.
Get on the ground and fool a wise old doe, then you are hunting!

bfr,

I've got four kids at home to feed. I'll take a doe in a heartbeat and I do 99.999999% of my hunting on the ground. It's just got to be legal, 'cause I don't need any hassle with the game wardens. I was sitting with my back against a tree when that eight-point ran by and I shot him.

Aren't you supposed to be cutting meat?

We have it easy here. Buck season opens and you can also shoot a doe because seasons overlap. There is also a split doe season and muzzle loader season coming up. Archery also runs from Oct 18 to Dec 31.
I can't shoot anymore deer unless the landowner or her sister can use another deer. She came and finished cutting the doe last night. I had a lot done for her. I get each a deer every season and her sister might need another this year.
I would donate some deer to the poor but they want you to pay for the butchering. If I could afford that I would never cut my own again. Big Grin
