I would love to see some of those photos if you have them and/or hear some of those hunting stories! There is nothing I like better than to see a successful hunting photo and to hear the story behind it. thumb

All of my handgun hunting has been done with single-shot TC's. Here are some of my successful hunts:

Couple of Coyotes taken while deer hunting with my Bullberry 7-30 Improved.

A buck taken with the 7-30 Improved:

Here are some of the hogs that I have killed with blackpowder pistols.

Bear taken with a .44 Mag Contender:

Elk taken with a 17" Bullberry Encore in .308 Win:

Elk taken with a 14" MGM Encore in .308 Win:

Wow! Those are some awesome trophies Tembo. When did you go to Africa? Did you take the eland on the same safari that the springbok and the wildebeest were taken on? That is definitely on my "to do" list. thumb Nice elk too, where did you get him?

Thanks for sharing!!!

X Caliber,
Those were from my last trip to South Africa in 2004. I first went in 1995 to Zimbabwe on an archery hunt. Next was South Africa in 2001 using rifles. The 2004 trip was handgun only. Africa is a great place to hunt. TONS of game!! The handgun regs. are getting kinda goofy now, so I don't know if I will go back with handguns.

Here's a 250-lb boar I shot back in '01 or '02 (I don't remember Confused). It was the second animal I had ever taken with my new .480 Ruger SRH. I was using junk Gold Dot 325 grain soft points.

jwp475, would you care to elaborate on "where" you took those awesome trophies and with what gun? I am assuming from your screenname that you are a .475 Linebaugh man but I didn't kow if that was what you used on all of the animals or not. Very nice, thanks for sharing!

Well X
I have never been one to remember my camera. I have a few photos somewhere. Mostly from other guys taking my pic for me. I will see what I can do to find them and scan them. Might be easyer said than done, as I just moved and most every thing is still packed up in storage.
I will see what I can find, and get back to you all.

BTW those are some cool picks guys!!! Hunting mullies all my life and have never got one as big as the one laying in the cleft of that canyon in the second photo. Very nice buck!

MM, I appreciate your efforts but certainly understand if you don't get them posted for awhile. I know what it is like right after you have moved; you can't find anything for months. thumbdown

To kill an elk or mule deer with a .41 Mag revolver would be super cool. Cool BTW, I've got a stainless 9" 41 Mag Contender barrel on order from Match Grade Machine. I've got the brass, dies, and bullets on hand. I hope to get it put together before deer season.

You will love it man! I have shot my 41 for around 18 years now. It is the only hunting pistol I have ever owned. ( looking into buying a bigger one just for fun as we speak)The 41 will put a fast death on anything you point it at. ( well I've never hunted Alaska yet) Deer and elk are no match for a heavy slug from a 41. Would love to try it on hogs but haven't yet. And for some reason every time I have a bear tag. I never find one. But have no doubt it would do just fine on bears too.

I hope you have as much fun shooting your 41 as I have!

Thanks jwp475, again those are some outstanding trophies! I hate to keep pestering you, but would you care to elaborate on the photo of the bears and moose horns? Did you take all of those animals? bewildered If so, you had a lot of meat to pack! I'm curious as to the who, what, when, where, and how on that one. I already know why! Thanks again!

Kaboom, that is a nice bear! Where did you get him at and as Whitworth said:

x-caliber -- there's actually a pretty hairy stor attached to the bear on the left. Let's just say that JWP had to exercise the stopping power of the .475 Linebaugh he is displaying........

jwp475 -- care to elaborate??

Thier were 3 of us huntingon this trip the photo is of the total tally for the trip. We were hunting on the Kelly River outside of Keutzbu, Ak. I took the Moose on the left with my 475, while dressing out the Moose the Grizz came in on us, my hunting partner shot first with a 338 the Bear went down and imediately got up. I shot with the 475 hitting him in the back of the ribs with the bullet angeling toward the off shoulder. The Bear went straight down spread eagle style and that was that.

350 gr. Sierra HP's with AA9. I think the last time I clocked it they were mid 1500's at the muzzle. This gun has never quite shot up to factory spec in terms of velocity, but it still kills just fine. Smiler

I could run heavier loads, but the Sierra's shoot good and will work on anything I need them for. Plus, the scope is mounted so high above the bore that I'm pretty much tapped out on down elevation. With the heavier bullets and/or hotter loads with the 350's I can't get it to come down far enough. Frowner Need to deal with that, but since I was able to get the 350's dialed in with AA9 with the load backed off just a tad, I just quit screwing with it and haven't had the time to go back and do something about it. You know how it is.
