It depends on what pressure you operate it at, but based on my experience with the 480, I'd say take 44 special performance with 240-250 gr bullets, and expect the same for 300 gr w/ a 48 special. If your using a gun that can handle full pressure 480 or 475 loads, a 44 special should have no problem pushing 400 gr 1000 fps. __________________________________________________ The AR series of rounds, ridding the world of 7mm rem mags, one gun at a time.

If penetration was the goal, shooting the heavy 400 grainers that would not expand or minimal expansion would be interesting to test or 300 grain hard casts at 1,100+ fps. What makes this interesting is the 475 pistol bullets have been aimed at hunting. A 475 Special could be an interesting self defense wheel gun. As a self defense gun the lighter bullets would be awesome. Would you rather be shot with a 44 Special or a 475 Special? 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)
