Some time ago I posted about my Bowen 50 GI that I was going to take hunting, but I wanted a test for the round. Ted Nugent called me and told me he had an old cranky boar that was breaking the backs of his sows when he would mount them to breed. I figured this would be a good test. I went to Nugents ranch in MI and we went looking for the boar. I found him in a hole in the hardwood patch. I got to within 30 yrds of the boar and he stood up and he could tell something was wrong, but he just coulden't place it.

My first shot went through the gristle plate right shoulder, breaking it, took out the heart, broke the left shoulder and stopped under the hide on the left side. When we peeled the hide off the bullet popped out from under the hide. That was the first shot. He spun around and I put another through the left shoulder gristle plate and it exited out the right shoulder. He went 5 yards and fell over.

I was shooting a 300gn cast FP at 1000 fps from the 50 GI. I think it is a perfect eastern treestand whitetail deer load.

Ted can bearly reach around this old boar to pat me on the back.

Ted was happy to have the boar taken off his property. Ted was shocked at the weight of the boar. Just an old cranky Russian past his prime. His hanging weight was 509 lbs.

I think the 50 GI in a packable revolver is " enough gun " for most NA non-dangerous game.

Hamilton Bowen builds the best packin' revolvers around today, here is the proof.

I hit my knees every night and thank the Good Lord that I have been blessed to be able to hunt these animals.

To all a Merry Christmas.................JJ
