So much for buying reloading stuff there anymore. Looks like the classifieds here may get a bit busier.

Decided to cut and paste in case some can't view it:

Hello everyone…In mid-August, we will be updating our Firearms, Weapons and Knives Policy to place more restrictions around gun-related items. Once these changes take effect, we will prohibit listings of any firearm part that is required for the firing of a gun. This includes items like bullet tips, brass casings and shells, barrels, slides, cylinders, magazines, firing pins, trigger assemblies, etc. Please read the Firearms, Weapons and Knives Policy for more details on our current policy.

As you may know, eBay does not allow the listing of any items which are regulated by individual states or the federal government; however, there are still a large number of firearm-related parts that are legal and are widely available in retail stores. These items have also historically been allowed on eBay.

After learning that some items purchased on eBay may have been used in the tragedy at Virginia Tech in April 2007, we felt that revisiting our policies was not only necessary, but the right thing to do. After much consideration, the Trust & Safety policy team – along with our executive leaders at eBay Inc. – have made the decision to further restrict more of these items than federal and state regulations require.

This new update continues to encourage safety among our community members and brings our policies in the U.S. and Canada in closer alignment with our existing policies in other markets around the globe.

Sincerely,

Matt Halprin
Vice President, Trust & Safety

Yep their typical over reaction. They have been looking for a reason to exclude more firearm related sales. Just an excuse.

Guess I need to run out and buy some of those "bullet tips" before they are all gone.

They have expressed their Anti policy for years.
So whats new. I have never purchased anything form them in the past and I despise paypal.

I have been shooting and reloading for 50+ years and didn't need them.

Frankly I wouldn't give them the sweat off my knee caps.

I would love to see another company get Ebay's business.

They have a market that has reached dominance is size, but the web site it's self is poorly constructed.

If Ebay had real competition, besides Craig's List locally, then Ebay would have to improve.

It's easy to squash a particular unPC group (gun folks). Let's see how people respond if the IRS steps in and collects a flat 10% on all sales. Who knows, as retribution, us gun folk could start writing letters to our local papers repeatedly asking for a mandatory tax to collect from sellers. Perhaps people would use eBay less, and stock price would fall. If they (eBay) are going to "put the boots" to us, then I say let's drop a grenade on them as we are forced to leave.

Since I couldn't find a place to contact them. I sent a note to customer supoort. Basically saying that they had never cared what their customers thought in the past but that I felt that they were way over-reacting. This is what they had to say.

Dear Paul

Thank you for writing in regard to eBay's newly revised Firearms policy.

After the tragedy at Virginia Tech, eBay?s Trust & Safety team along
with executives at the company felt it was important to re-examine our
existing policy and evaluate if it still met the needs of our
marketplace and our company. At eBay we constantly review and update
our policies and, after careful consideration, we determined that this
policy change was in the best interest of our marketplace and our
company.

While eBay hasn?t allowed the sale of any item regulated by individual
states or the federal government in the past, there are still a large
number of firearm-related parts that are legal and are widely available
in retail stores. These items have also historically been allowed on
eBay.

Now, we are extending our policy to prohibit the sale of any item that
is required for the firing of a gun. These items include bullet tips,
brass casings, shells, barrels, slides cylinders, magazines, etc. We
have made the decision to exceed the requirements of federal and state
regulations for safety and to bring our policies in the US and Canada in
closer alignment with our policies in other markets around the globe.

I understand your frustration regarding this matter Paul and apologize
for the inconvenience it caused you.

Sincerely,

Heidi

eBay has been steadily declining in both quality and usefulness ever since its inception. Forgetting guns for a second, they have more BS rules on their site than I care to even list. They're in cahoots with Paypal, so no matter what, they're getting more of your $$. eBay is a good idea, but is entirely too risky in today's world. You can't trust everyone.

Now, insofar as buying and selling firearm components on their site, that would always be the last place I'd look for anything, so it's no big loss. Meg Whitman can kiss both halves of my ass.

PS - Oh, and as for their cowardly and insensitive use of the VT shooting as fodder, I don't think the shooter reloaded his own ammo or built his own guns, so what the hell are they talking about?! One of the most reprehensible forms of behavior, IMO, is using a horrible public tragedy to strengthen your cause. Talk about low.
