Sorry if this is off topic, but as I am new to the site and to reloading I was wondering if you would mind sharing what your occupation is? Since I finished reading Lyman's 47th, and am now getting through The ABC's of Reloading by Chevalier, I find most of my free time consumed by reading about reloading, pricing and comparing equipment, reading articles and forums about reloading, etc. I also work in an industry that requires a lot of hours, and was wondering what serious reloaders do for a living, if you dont mind sharing..

Don't you know? Reloaders are all retired. fishing

You're making an investment right now. It WILL pay off when you actually get started. When you read a post that says, "My Lee 50th Anniversary Kit came today, and the boxes are unpacked. What do I do next?", you'll appreciate your efforts.

I was always told that a person needs a vocation and an avocation which is defined as

quote:
An avocation is an activity that a person does as a hobby outside their principal occupation. There are many examples of people whose profession was the way they made a living, but whose activities outside their workplace were their true passion in life.

The important thing is that all of here share the same avocation. I would suspect that our vocations would be a complete cross section of the vocations in America with the exception of the few that the bleeding heart liberals work at.

Personally, outside sales commercial doors/frames/hardware.

While currently retired, I was a Manufacturing engineer and did quite a bit of design work as well.

Avocation is shooting, hunting, fishing, gunsmithing, reloading, and harassing liberals! God knows they need it! animal

Who's serious, this is for fun? Seriously, I work in electronics assembly and maintenance 40 hours a week, before that active duty Navy. Until a few months ago I was out of shooting and reloading for a couple of years.

I work at a remote gold mine in northern BC, Canada.
I work a 2 week rotation, so I'm on the "vacation of the month plan". 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. My wife works at the same mine Monday - Thursday, so when I'm on days off, I have from 04:30 Monday to 19:30 Thursday to do my reloading, shooting, hunting and gunsmithing.

Well I shouldn't have any time to hunt shoot or reload but I work it in somehow. I am a self employed small time Electrical Contractor mainly, have a small farm I grow hay on and take care of our place where we live and a couple rentals. I have a great lady in my life and two boys 15 and 6.
I've been reloading since I was 14 so that has been about 34 years of reloading this spring, you do the math for my age.
My time is always at a premium!

I design electronics for military, space, commercial air, private air, or medical.

So far, that is who has found my phone number.

I have a BSEE from the UW.

So does my father, who designed guns and vehicles. He has always bought factory ammo.

So does my wife, who has no guns to feed. She does cook the venison, that was shot with my handloads.

So does my cousin, who handloads.

Retiremant age Realtor, but refusing to retire because of my dire addiction to RELOADING-SHOOTING-HUNTING. The only thing I love as much as hunting and reloading is the Real Estate business and it enables me to carry on. I do question paying Uncle Sam his full share and him paying me my full share, but that is the way he wants it, so be it. Good shooting.

HR manager in the semiconductor industry. Trained as a gunsmith and machinist and ended up in HR (long story). Been reloading for 30+ years and doing all my own gun work for 25 years, perhaps not your normal HR professional. Works for me as many of my conversations with employees are gun related which are much better than regular HR topics.
