scr83jpAll you have to do is build an exclosure that excludes cattle such as a 3 strand barbed wire fence shouldn't be that expensive to keep the cattle out.To exclude deer and elk fences were built over 10 feet high for browse studies.Inside of the barbed wire some plants existed but in the exclosures with 10++ ft fencing you couldn't see more than a couple of feet it was like a jungle.

ElCaballeroA three wire fence should work. However if you have a good plot with lots of good eating the cows will push on your fence. I would recommend a single wire electric. The solar charger will be the most expensive part. It will also require some checking up on to make sure it is working properly.
Start with 3 strands of barbed wire and go from there. You can always ad a hot wire later.

OkieNewtonHere in Texas a lot of guys use a hog panel to put around the feeder's. I have some bent and tied together that I have used in the past.

SGraves155I've had cattle and had deer feeders, but never in the same place (no particuliar reason). My SWAG is that even a monster buck should be able to get under a lower wire 20" off the ground. The other two wires with a spacing of 9" would put the top wire at 38". Any deer should be able to go under or over easily. Should be enough to keep all but the most determined or starving cattle outside. ElCab has it right.
