Every time a see nice kudu mounts, I regret mounting mine with the scull only. I do have the cape though, so I should put in the money and have it done properly soon..

I now have a trophy room of a French style, often referred to as "garage en afrique'. Upon entering by way of an embossed roll-up door, one finds, interspersed between the trophy heads, such subtle touches of manliness as ancient fan belts, neatly rolled extention cords, hacksaw collections, 2-stroke engine gaskets, etc., etc. .. a real man's room, you see. If I get a chance I'll post some pictures.

I haven't had a good belly laugh like that in a few days. I thought I was the only one with a trophy room like that! Thanks Nick.

Kyler, the wall that the Waterbuck is hanging is 8' high, and vaults up to 14' on the opposite side of the room. The room itself is 18'X 18'.

ibexx, that Kudu measures just a tad shy of 58". It was shot in Namibia with Steve Tors, of Jan Oelofse's Mt. Etjo Safaris. It was my first Safari.

Mike, Nice room. I really like the walls. Are they grass mats? or wall paper? Where did you find them?

Grafton, it's wallpaper made of woven grass. My wife's decorator found it for me, and it was expensive. Jorge had asked me to send him a sample of it some time back, and after I did, he said he found it at a local builder's supply house for considerably less than what I paid--it might have been Home Depot if I recall.

i agree the wallpaper is great.

the ugly couch and $20 chinese target/ikea screen have to go!

a nice brown leather club chair and sofa for smoking cigars and drinking bourbon is in order and will do such fine triophies justice.

Mike, That's some great collection, and I just love that Bushbuck! Not to mention the truly great Reedbuck... Well done.

Collins, thanks for the comments. The larger of the 2 Bushbucks is a Limpopo Bushbuck, and was actually the easiest/luckiest animal I've taken. We were just out for a ride around the property, the afternoon before my hunt was to begin, and he was slowly walking through some sparce reeds only 50 yards off the dirt, farm road. A short stalk, and a 45 yard shot, and he was down.

The Southern Reedbuck scored very well, because he is hard horned all the way down to the hair line. There's no basal pulp at all.

Great stuff Mike! If that room doesn't bring back memories of Africa, then nothing will.

Thanks Erik. After I get my trophies back from my last hune in Namibia, the only remaining animals on my "must have list" will be Cape Buffalo, Leopard, Red Lechwe, and Sable.

I need one of those rooms one of these days.
If the couch is comfortable why spend the money on another one?

Jarrod, the couch is indeed comfortable, but my storm and strife of over 30 years has convinced me that a nice dark leather sofa and recliner is the way to go.

I notice there is no water buff on the walls. You need to try out some shooting sticks on one sometime soon!

PS I am a little embarrassed by my "trophy room" at the moment. All my heads and skins are laid out on the lounge room floor and more soon to be added. I must take a photograph. It is very cleverly laid out (piled up). I will be lynched soon by my better half I think.

Lovely room - I am building mine at the moment and look forward to sitting in it with some good trophies on the walls - and good memories. Going to take me a while to build up a collection like that though!

That looks like a very comfortable room. Unlike so many that resemble Museums or Hotel Lobbies.

A nice place to kick back and remember Africa.

You must have a real sense of accomplishment and pride each time you walk in the room. Excellent work!

I really like that Impala on top! He's heavy and got a really nice shape to him.

Thank you. That Impala was shot in South Africa a couple of years ago with Jan Swart, near Thabazimbi. He went + - 27". He was fighting with another ram of the same size.
