My brother and I began constructing our new home about a year ago. I solicited some input here, regarding adding a trophy room to the plans.
Our room ended up being about 24'x34', with 12' walls, and I believe the peak of the roof is 22'. We used 3/4" plywood on the walls from 4' up.

There is a frame built in for a flat screen TV on one wall, and a bar being built in one corner...gotta have a cocktail while watching the hunting videos, after all...

Here are a couple shots taken during the build, and a final with a few heads hung.

Looks very nice. You'll have it filled up in no time. I really like the muskox. A full body muskox makes one of the best trophies, IMO.

Good lord, man. Very, very nice job. I especially like the way you used a curved track lighting to balance the straight lines of the ceiling planks and the way those lights highlight the mounts.

Where are the windows?

No windows, no doors....just an entrance from a hallway into the house.

We did have a wide garage door framed into one wall, mainly so if we ever sell the place the new owner could cut the wall out and install a door...instant garage.

Great Room!!! What watt lights did you use in the cans? The curve lights are probably 50 watt high intensities, and Ive got some of them. But did you use 75's in the cans?

Dvaid. I will be starting my house next winter and I am planning on a 25x30 room. About the same idea except I'm going to add some 12x12 glass blocks where the roof meets the top of the wall for a little but indirect natural light. How do you like the size and the set up now that you are done? Also, why did you decide to make your roof peak so high? Do you have a separate heating source for your room? Thanks...........wapiti7

Well...I think now my ceiling peak is 19'. I wanted it high, to maximize mount space, and give the room a larger feel.

My heating is in-floor tubes.

The glass blocks are an intersting idea. I wanted to be able to achieve total darkness, for movie viewing. I'm putting an overhead projector and drop down screen on one wall.

No elk yet, little brother is out this morning to see if he can find one....

What is your elk herd like up there? Ours is pretty decent!
I also thought about no light at all, but I figured that the blocks would allow some diffused natural light that would be really nice during the day, yet the room would be totally dark at night. I definatly don't want any direct sunlight or windows in the room. I'm still a little over a year out but I'm a planner!

Our elk, in SE Alaska are on a permit draw system. The herds are decent sized, with some nice bulls taken each year. Terrain and weather can be tough, though.

My kitchen, don't know the dimensions...has a center island with range top and mini-sink..the one wall has double ovens, a micro/convection, and a warming drawer. Good for cooking with lots of guests to feed.

Don't forget the bbq...

In the finish shots,it's T&G.
Did you change your mind?

My wife talked me into T&G pine on our ceiling,and although it was a LOT of work (Sand,seal,stain,poly,ploy) to prep,and took me a long time to install,I now,reluctantly,admit she was right.THIS time!

Dude...rut is coming, and I'm hoping to hang some more heads. Have a 63" moose to put up someday, too....but it's in a buddy's house in Oregon.

We moved in back in May, and I'd have to report that we're emjoying things so far....grin...

DaveP, drywalling & taping was the plan from the start, and the cedar T&G wasn't an afterthought....it's all local cedar, as well...

I especially like the lodge atmosphere.

The trophy room became a wedding chapel last week. My brother got hitched, with 80+ people in attendance....there was actually some room to spare.

Nice place. Looks like everything went off without a hitch. Well, I mean one hitch.

I bet the family enjoyed that.
