San Antonio Hunts? More Pics
Hello all! It's been a while since I've sat down and caught up. I see lots of "new faces" and that's what's keeping us headed in the right direction.

I have two friends traveling to the Stock Show in San Antonio during the first week in February. They had made arrangements to hunt for two days somewhere within 2 hours drive of that city. A kill-every-hog-you-see-hunt for a fixed price. The landowner/outfitter bailed and my friends would still love the chance to kill their first hogs. Why they'd ever want to leave our single digit or below zero temperatures and 120 inches of snow I'll never know but it's not my call

Their available hunting days are February 03 and 04; or February 05 and 06.

If any members know of a place, within two hours or so of San Antonio, that would provide a fair chance to kill a pig or two please give a shout.

Take care and have a Happy, Healthy, and Safe 2011!

Cheers to Marco and Larry! It looks from your posts you're both keeping your hands dirty with smiles on your faces. Best wishes.

Clay Pope has some great hog hunting south of Utopia, Texas about an hour west of San Antonio:

We have done several successful hunts with him.

He may have a special going, be sure to ask.

Rustic, but with a TV for ball games, and a chance at auodad, blackbuck, and axis.

I presume these guys can lend rifles to clients if need be?

I have family in San Antonio and visit every couple of years or so.

It would be nice to do some hunting out there one of these days.

Getting you set up with a rifle to hunt with here in Texas will not be a problem.

Thanks Bob, that's good to know.

My first ever experience of hunting was in Texas fifteen years ago on my uncle's land on the outskirts of Texas.

He had a few hundred acres of rough land with his house in the middle of it and to me it was like paradise. He even took me to walmart and bought me a .22 and shotgun for the four weeks over Christmas we were there.

I lived like Huckleberry Finn ( well, almost... Big Grin) for those four weeks and they are reason why I came to hunting and shooting now. I have a very soft spot in my heart for that place.

Can you recommend a range where one can pay and play?

They could contact FTWoutfitters.com as well, they are in that area and the last time I talked to Tim, he was overrun with hogs. Has blackbuck etc. as well.

Thank you loboga!

I will pass your note on to my friends. I'm extremely jealous that they are headed to Texas in a couple of weeks to hunt while I'm left behind in what's turning out to be an extremely gray winter.

Anybody seen any sunshine out there?

Ghubert-There are many ranges we can get you on.

I personally shoot at Blackhawk in Atascosa just south of San Antonio.

Is this a coyote hunt or a P-Dog hunt?

I'm guessing using dogs to hunt hogs.

Thanks to all you folks, I was able to steer my friends down to South Texas for a little time in the field chasing critters. It was very cold, even for a couple from Montana/Wyoming, but their ice driving skills came in very handy.

The cold and ice didn't dampen their spirits as you can tell by this picture. Their very first pig hunting adventure netted them four javelina and one hog. They saw lots of whitetails and turkeys, and they brought back memories that will last forever.

This was also their first trip to Texas, originally dreamed up as an escape our cold Wyoming winter, and they made many new friends.

Of course, on their last day in Texas, it was 76°. Somehow they toughed it out by spending the day on the Riverwalk in San Antonio.

Very nice photo. It has been terribly cold in this area as well. Better head for Florida if you're looking for warm weather pigs. Of course it's suppose to be in the upper fifties by this week-end. Gosh I hope that's true, it will be near 12 in the morning.

Anyhow glad you're friends did well and enjoyed Texas.

Good looking javelinas!

I am glad it worked out for them. They did well in spite of the freak ice storm! I just wish we could have worked our schedules out to share a cup of coffee. Fortunately they left a few critters for us to hunt. Big Grin

Great photo!

A few of the "extras" that helped to make for a fun trip. Bob, they were sorry to have missed you as well. Thanks for all your help.
