Wilderness Hunting Lodge boar hunt
Just got back from Wilderness Hunting lodge, with my son. We didn't have time to go to Texas, plus I was looking for a hog with a lot of european/russian characteristics. The majority of the hogs I saw shot, at Wilderness showed just that. Here is a few pics.

Huge sow taken with 45-70 GG. 300 gr. nosler part.

Dan, taken with 44 mag handi rifle and leverevolution ammo.

Here is the websitefor those that are interested.

Yep, its a hunting preserve, but for TN. it's a big hunting preserve[2400 acres]. Great hunt, good food and lodging, and great people. Another plus, you can hunt by yourself, without a guide. Which is what my son and I did.

1st shot was taken at 50-60 yds. Dan said he hit it a little far back. Hog took off, and he caught up with it, and hit it in the shoulder. It was going down, but Dan didn't want it going down the mtn. side, so he put an insurance shot in it. Glad he did, too. That damned hog was so heavy it took 3 of us to grunt it 30 ft. up the hill, so we could load it in the gator. Phew! Big Grin

Reeeeaaaaal nice! Prices are pretty reasonable for pigs that size.....and I like the self-guided option.

Holy pig!

That's a lot of sausage! What do you do with it all? Hope you have a big freezer.

I wish they had hogs like that around here to hunt. That would be awesome.

Slim, we had chos, steaks, roasts, as well as sausage. So far everything has been great eating. No wild taste, or odor. Man are they fat. Told the missus that between the hog and the deer, she could only buy chicken until fall! Big Grin

OK, I just gotta know how you got them out of the woods? Did you quarter them in the field, get help, what??

NICE HOGS!!

Larry, they got a 4wd gator with a winch. You radio in, and they come and get it. I'm too dam**d old for this quartering out and down the mtn. nonsense! Big Grin

Very nicely done!

Thanks for posting.

So, do you plan a trip to Texas as well, or are you now hooked on those TN monsters? Smiler

Been to Texas twice, and hope to go again, next Feb. I won't give up the Texas hunts, ever. But I wanted to shoot a representative of a pure russian boar. Wilderness is the first place that I have ever found them, at a reasonable price.
