It's always hard to tell without a solid frame of reference, and this angle is particularly challenging. But he seems massive in the shoulders and appears to have better-than-average length, so I am going to guess that his weight will the the same as what you may shoot him with: 223. I hope you're out there hunting tonight. I have a gut feeling about hog movement. I might even check outside a time or two. I actually intended to do so yesterday, but then a scorpion changed my plans. I thought a leaf or twig fell from the oak tree in the front yard when something hit me in the back of the neck. By the time I reached around to brush off whatever fell on me, my neck was on fire from the venom. I hate those things. Well, discovered that the scope is far mor complex than my simple mind and got so frustrated trying to zero and verify I gave up and came home. Was going to return it and found out they all are complex. I don’t need pictures, videos, picture in a picture, Bluetooth , etc, etc. So I relented and it is now remounted and awaiting a return trip to the range. Also discovered my old eyes struggle to read the icons, etc on the screen. I will study the manual thoroughly and hopefully solve my problems and be able to go punch some hogs. I was just about to message you and see how things were going with the thermal. I hate all of the bells and whistles as well. The SightMark Mini Wraith thermal seemed to be as simple as is available out there, and it has worked well for me. I got mine from CameraLandNY when Doug had a factory refurb for about half price. I looked at a number of options but quickly eliminated brands/models that require you to "connect" to your phone or the internet for upgrades, ballistic tables, rangefinding capabilities, etc. I don't want or need any of that! As to hogs, I haven't seen any since the boar I took 4 or 5 days ago. I hope you get sighted in and can find some spare time to get out into the woods soon. It'll be a few degrees cooler next week, so that may put the odds in your favor with the piggies. Bobby, Got the Model number handy for the Sightmark you have? How's the clarity? Thanks. CB Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

It's the SightMark Wraith Mini, and below I will include a link to all the product specs. As to clarity, it won't match the $4-5K models but is more than adequate for my usage. It's good enough to be able to tell the difference between a fox and coyote (or 'coon and ' possum) out to 200 yards. The only real gripe I have with it is that in full darkness, the display is too bright for my liking, even on the lowest setting. I actually thought about trying to find a neutral density filter with the correct thread size to screw on, but I never followed through with that. Mine has been on a couple different rifles and has earned my trust. specs for thermal The unit isn't overly-huge like some, either: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bobby Μολὼν λαβέ The most important thing in life is not what we do but how and why we do it. - Nana Mouskouri

Thanks for your experience and the link for the 16X max unit. I was looking at the ones that sell for like $600. because I like the looks. But, they are only 1-4X. Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

Since it's not an optical zoom like a traditional scope, what you get is a degradation of the image with each successive increase in power. I've never used the full magnification potential on mine. Prior to the unit I now have, I ran an ATN Thor 160 LT 4-8x and killed a number of hogs and coyotes out to around 175 yards. I'd consider that about the max effective range of the unit, though under good conditions and a larger hog, 200 may be doable. But the SightMark Wraith Mini thermal allows me much quicker target definition and provides a better-detailed image. ![]() ![]() Bobby Μολὼν λαβέ The most important thing in life is not what we do but how and why we do it. - Nana Mouskouri
