Jeff SullivanEast Texas Boar
My son and I went hog hunting tonight, and he scored with a nice Russian-cross boar (a.k.a Piney Woods Rooter) that weighed about 225 lbs. It was his first kill with his new Marlin 336SS and Hornady LeverEvolution ammo.

WhitworthCongratulations to you and your son, Jeff! You must be proud! That's a good piece of hog flesh!

greghudthat marlin has got to be about the best selection for a young hunter for pigs. and a nice pig to boot. congrats.

was it a running shot? the blood looks a little far back. altho it obvously done the job. best take him out for more practice.

Jeff SullivanThe shot was a perfect heart shot, and the pig never took a step. He did flop around, and we had to drag him a few feet for the picture. The blood on the hip came from the flopping or the dragging.

You sure you're not teaching your boy the famous Texas Heart Shot?

This little boar will be buzzard bait. We could barely stand to drag him out and take pictures because he stunk so bad. I already had plans to eat it if it had been a sow, but the last few boars that we have killed have been pretty rank.
My son wants to try it again tonight, but I need a little sleep before another night hunt (not that I didn't get a little nap in the blind last night)

Sounds like we have the makings of another "pig murdering fool" here.

Way to go!!!!

Ole Miss GuyThis is so much better than the fat kid that killed Fred, aka Canned Yams, the 1000lb pet. Obviously a better Dad, also.

Jeff SullivanThe problem I have is that my son is not new to hunting. He killed his first deer when he was 6 and has been hooked ever since. I am not sure how many deer he has killed, but he killed 5 in 2006 (2 in Oklahoma with his muzzleloader and 3 in Texas with his Encore 270). Here are the bucks that he killed in 2006.
The only "can" that is involved in our hunts will contain something to drink.

TrophyShotPrintsCongrats to you and your son!
He's a seasoned hunter already....
and an accomplished one at that!!!
I'm turning 46 years young next month and just got back from my first hunt ever. I took my 18 year old son on a guided hunt and we've been hooked ever since.
You must be VERY, VERY PROUD OF HIM!!!
ALOHA! LATE-BLOOMER

Jeff,
Congrats to you and your son. Memories like this last a lifetime.
