I've known they were coming
With hogs within miles in every direction, I've been surprised that none have been on my trailcams at the feeding stations. Last night the dogs barked different than usual, and this morning, something had moved a protein block about 20 ft. This is what was on the Camera Card at the station about 200 yds from my front door today:

Ah so grasshopper--not problem, but opportunity!

Whitworth--I'd bet you'd be the first to volunteer to come help with the problem-right?

Nice antler growth on the buck already!

Yep, in Texas it is not a matter of "if", but "when" you will get hogs!

That buck is the best on my place. There's another big one, and a half dozen that are just in the 5-6 inch stage of growth.
In the second pict, I can't tell if that's a boar or a barrow, and whether he's 250#+ or what? what do you think?

True, but it's a matter of 'if', rather than 'when', anyone lets you shoot them without a fee. So I guess we really don't have much of a hog problem but rather a 'complaining about hogs' problem. bewildered

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

Yeah, a couple of those should be prime eating, but I haven't seen or got any trail-cam shots of those hogs since those first two nights.

Here's one from 2 days ago:

That big boar finally showed back up after several weeks. Only one pict of him and one pict of a a sow on the trail cam.

I was sleeping late last Saturday when my wife came in and said I needed to get up and come see.
When I got my jeans on and went to the hay field,in it was a rather large mostly white sow.
She roamed into the cotton field and rooted a hole large enough for me to bury both my dogs in.
Walked to the house to get a rifle and took the truck to the north side of the place and places a 80 grain A-Max into her and that was all she wrote.
I figured she would weigh about 325 or so but my brother-in-law thinks she was closer to 400.
One good thing about her was she was dry so hopefully there are not any more close to the farm for a while longer.

The wife and I like to eat wild pig meat better that any other big game animal.

Even boars over 300 lbs that I have killed were very good to eat.

Had wild pig for dinner 2 days ago, deer last night. Big Grin

That last photo looks like a decent one! Time to put up the red lights and do an allnighter!
