great shot. i too put a second round in the buffalos's butt (left cheek), after an initial shot just in front of the right shoulder, and we recoveered the bullet exiting between two front ribs in the left chest wall, having traversed the length of the buffalo. it was a 300 grain trophy sledgehammer solid and had about a 5 degree bend in it in the middle. it is a great shot.

I would NOT have wanted to be born and raised in any other state in this union or any other country for that matter than THE LONE STAR STATE!

I was exiled to Texas once in the 70s for the three longest years of my life, and it convinced me of one thing:

That s not very nice is it?

I lived in Texas for over two years, and absolutely loved it.

May be Beduins and Texans have something in common? clap

The Texas Heart shot is extremely lethal when properly applied.

Thanks for posting thumb

I saw this post and just started reading it and when I came to the post from George Hoffman I got a bit spooked. Checked the dates and now I am starting to feel a bit better. Talk about necroposting.

I miss the posts from George and hope he is enjoying lots of good hunts and sunsets in the hereafter.

I am 58 years old and was born and raised in Texas, and I had never heard of a Texas Heart Shot until I started participating on forums like this one.

I have been hunting for 40 years now, and probably 95% of the game I have killed has been taken still hunting/stalking, and have never attempted a goiny away shot like that on any 4 legged critter. JMO.

It was a great shot, and as someone else stated, I am one of those Texans that worry more about MOC (Minute Of Critter) than MOA when it comes to shooting at something with hair.

When I first designed and built our 375/404, Walter asked "how accurate is it going to be"

My answer was "minute of cape buffalo"

We were not disappointed.

I loved the sense of humor they had in Texas.
I spent a lot of my time shooting, and every single individual I met had a great sense of humor.

The odd ones who didn't were a source of endless laughs from jokes being played on them.

The best part was that we had no PC.

I never heard of texas heart shots either, until I joined this some hunting forums. I would have called it a rear heart shot.
Took me a while to put together hints and figure out what it was
