I'm in central NC, but I would be willing to drive towards the mountains or the coast for a good taxidermist.

Although not in NC, McMicken Taxidermy in Carterville, GA (North GA, just off I-75) would be worth the drive. Darrell specializes in African mounts, hunts Africa often himself, and does simply outstanding work.

Contact Darrell at 770-382-6232. It is also worthwhile to visit him at his studio--his work in progress and his personal trophy room will convince you of his abilities.

If you are interested, email me at aggie69@bellsouth.net and I will send some photos of the work he did on my and my son's African trophies.

Also not far from NC is Safari Arts Taxidermy in Amelia, VA.

Grafton posts on here regularly.

Yeah, Grafton at Safari Arts. He uses a Carolina tannery and they can import your trophies and forward to Grafton. Check his mounts in the Taxidermy forum, he's one of our top artists on PG.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

BBM,

Before you call anyone outside the state, give Dennis Smith of Game Trail Taxidermy a call. His number is 704-782-4497. He did an excellent job for me on my last two safaris. His prices are good and he is located just east of Charlotte in Mt. Pleasant, NC. I leave for Tanzania in two weeks and he will do my work again when I return.
