Yes, we were watching it too. A person can certainly spend a lot of time here. I leave it on for background noise when occupied otherwise. Brings back many good memories when we cannot actually be there.

My wife came in last night & saw the waterhole for the first time in a couple of weeks. She could not believe how green & lush everything was.

Does anyone know exactly which lodge this camera is owned by, and in what country?

Five elephants there this morning! One looked to be about a 50 pounder!

Yes , the rhinos water before day light most times I've seen them. There are three adults, and one yearling calf!

This morning (evening there) the wildebeast had several very young calves thumb

Did you notice the audio malfunctioning in the 10-12 hours preceeding the loss of video? I miss the sounds. We had been using it for "background noise". Hope they are able to get it up/running again.

Anyone know, are these tapes or is it a live camera?

Maybe a white rhino has perched in front of the camera. Once they go to roost, they sometimes don't move for days......... jumping

There is obviously a lodge or braai boma close by, belonging to a lodge perhaps...I can hear drumming and traditional singing (no doubt dinner entertainment for clients..its really very clear!)

It could also be just another 'bender' at Shakari's house... beer

Lion there now. 2 males and a female so far. The males look pretty lean to me? Edit...one of the males looked like he was sporting a growth/tumor on his right front leg...maybe I am seeing things but check it out.

The male that was drinking looked quite lean indeed! But, they still have tenure of females, so the brothers/cousins are doing OK!

Cheers

PS didn't see the tumor, might be a hygroma (sp?) - common in some areas, I believe having to do with a genetic bottle-neck, but I wasn't aware of them in that area, only in Hluhluwe-Umfolozi..who knows?

Good fun this!

Occasionally they turn the camera round to face directly away from th waterhole and you can see the back of the lodge..... looks like it's only about 150 or 200 yards away...... so they probably had some of the Zulu dancers in from the local cultural centre which is owned by the same family as own the lodge....... either that, or it's just the damn natives revolting again! - what, what!

Although the Christmas party here at Chez Shakari does get bloody noisy - especially when we go out to chase the reindeer around the golf course! Wink

Great. Got to see the big male for about 2 minutes and a truck pulled up and scared him out of the frame. Nicely maned and a shooter in my book. Looks like he has been feeding recently.
