A Memorial Service for a life cut far too short was held for Wayne today. The 500 people attending were a testament to a life well lived and the respect his friends and peers held for Wayne.

I have been following accurate reloading for years and think it is a great sight .Wayne Clark was one of my best friends,I just wanted give all his friends and fellow hunters the true account of what happened on that tragic day.

Wayne was on a 2x2 hunt for Adam Clements in Harpreet Barr's Lolkisale area in Masailand. The other PH on the hunt, was Cliff Walker. On the eve of the 11th of July, Wayne's client wounded a buffalo bull that went into a small thicket. Wayne drove to within a short distance of the thicket, asked his client to say put while he went to assess the situation. He took his 500 double,as soon as he got to the edge of the thicket, the buffalo came for him. He managed to get off both shots but did not stop the buff. It tossed him into the air, and then the buff got back on him, the client and scout shot the buff off him. Wayne managed to get back to the vehicle, got in it and drove away. He radioed Cliff Walker, who was with him within 10 minutes. He immediately put a tourniquet on his leg, and headed for medical help. An ambulance and helicopter was called for, but Wayne passed away peacefully in Cliff's arms before help was reached. He had a severed femur artery.
There where between 800 -1000 people at his memorial service which gives testomony to the great guy that he was. He will be sadly missed by all of us.

Frik, Thanks I have been wondering what happened to my friend. Sounds like just bad luck. I had heard there was a big crowd at his memorial service. Does not suprise me a bit. To meet Wayne was to like him. He made an impact on many and will be sorly missed.

I did hear the safari continued after this tragedy, which is kind of shocking. I was told this by a game scout in camp.

Frik-

Sincere condolences on the loss of your good friend.

Thanks for defining the circumstances. I know Cliffie and he's taken hits as a PH as well. It is rare to survive a femoral injury, even when there are medical facilities nearby. We had a Deputy shot in the femoral artery some years ago and he bled out before he could be evacuated.

As I prepare to depart once again (7 days) for Ele and Buff, I will be taking the circumstances of this seasons deaths and injuries with me. I will review them with my hunting partners and PH Alan Shearing (himself a victim of assault by Buff) before taking to the field.
