Death of Texas Safari operator in Tanzania?
Reading the Houston paper this morning I came across the obit of an ex-Houstonian (who grew up in my neighborhood and went to same schools as my kids) Corbett Bishop who died May 1 in Arusha.

He was apparently quite a mountan guide, with 100+ ascents of Killinmanjaro. He operated a safari company which looked mostly like photo safari. He was also listed as a professional hunter in the obit. He also helped start a conservancy with anti poaching emphasis.

Sounds like quite an accomplished young man doing good things. Condolences to his family.

Anybody know him from their times in Tanzania?

Bob,

I didn't know him but I've had two different Tanzanian PHs call me today because they are in town for the funeral and want to get together while they're here. According to them, he was well liked and highly respected.

Greg, thanks for the info. That's quite a testament that the PH's came to Houston for the funeral from Tanzania.

A young man to die in his home at 38. Do you know if it was an accident? Malaria?

Webiste mentions "natural causes" which would exclude accidents, injuries, or infections. Includes things like myocardial infarct, cerebral hemorrhage, or pulmonary embolus.

Best to his family. Sounds like he lived a full life. Kudos to him for chasing a dream and devoting himself to it.

It is wonderful that the family will be able to celebrate a life that was spent doing what the young man truly wanted to do, and as they say the Good Die Young.
