I dance Argentine Tango, at least once a week, sometimes more. I go to Tango festivals around the world as well. I enjoy cooking, and have been to several cooking "bootcamps" throughout the years. Then, SCUBA, and street photography. I also ride a recumbent trike and do a couple of century rides a year. My schedule is always full, sometimes a bit much .

While shooting, hunting and target competition have been my lifelong avocation my life expanded beyond a hobby and work when I got a cottage on an island on the CT shore. It came with a little sunfish sailboat and I took to it learning the wind, tide and currents. Along the way I met my lovely wife and she joined me on larger boats which led to living aboard in the summer and cruising the NE coast. We have retired from active sailing but still belong to a couple of clubs. My late dad was a tool and die maker. He ran his own shop for years. I still have some of his machinery. Get the 'power' or optic that your eye likes instead of what someone else says. When we go to the doctor they ask us what lens we like! Do that with your optics.

George, No, assuming you're referring to the guy I quoted. On the other hand, I know a bunch of "Dougs", so many that my wife asks, "which Doug"? all the time. adding to this thread: took my daughter small stream fly fishing today and taught the dog to not dive in and try to retrieve fish that rose to the fly. Hilarious to watch, frustrating to endure. He now sits on the bank and shakes, watching for the fish to rise, then nearly comes to a boil holding himself back from diving in. We haven't laughed so hard in years. Further adding to the thread: I used to fly single engine small planes, got the private pilot license and had a ball. Then the prices/hour went through the roof and one marginal instance taught me that I wasn't safe even though I was legal. Flying takes significant time and $ to be current, safe and prepared. Stopped flying after taking my wife up twice. I'd do it again if I had the time and $. Then last week an acquaintance died in a wreck, very sad. Would still do it again, one of the most rewarding things I've ever done.

That is what a lot of folks are gearing up for right now. Somehow doing something where the organizers are happy if only one or two of the contestants die, is not my idea of fun. Even the rocks don't last forever.

I've got rather a hankering to try bee keeping and might give that a try next year. We've got a couple of fields we don't do anything with and I'd rather like to plant some more fruit trees and create something like a wild flower meadow and then put a hive or two in one corner.

I used to have a variety of reptiles (corn snake, Veiled chameleon, Frill-necked lizard etc.) and two grey parrots. It is quite interesting to keep these animals. Unfortunatly my travels make it impossible for me to keep animals at the moment.

Steve: My wife & I have been keeping bees for about 5 years now & find it to be a fascinating hobby. In the next few weeks we are moving to Florida and selling our bees until we see if the neighbors are bee-friendly; if so, we'll probably invest in one hive--have 4 now, but we're on 4 acres, while the new house is in a subdivision on a quarter-acre. For the rest of you: I shoot skeet and will probably do so more often. Finances don't suggest any more trips to Africa, unfortunately. We're buying a house in Florida with a pool--I've never had one, so I guess I will become the new "pool boy." I enjoy upland game hunting and will seek out a few plantations--even "put and take" quail hunting beats watching soccer on TV. There are some exotic game farms in Florida and I don't have a problem with high fence operations, so that's an option. If any of you AR members who live in Florida have other suggestions, I'd love to hear them. I don't know you can get BBC I Player over there (might need an IP shield) but they've just had a great 2 parter called 'Hive Alive' which is well worth seeing. I guess my two fields add up to a couple of acres or so but we're also surrounded by other fields so I guess 2 or 3 hives should be OK...... I'll probably just start with just one to see how I get on with the buzzy little chaps. How much honey do you reckon can be harvested from one hive in one year?

Boating, spend about 5 weeks per summer on a houseboat at Lake Powell. Warm Water Fishing, with lots of beer drinking. 60-70 days a year waterfowl hunting. 5 days elk hunting a year. Love Antelope hunting when I can draw the tags. Serious tool nut. Always fixing or maintaining something. Riding Side x Sides or dirt bikes in the desert a dozen times a year or so. Use to ride Harley's. But now have young kids and had too many close calls, so I have transitioned into cars. In a viper at the moment. Starting to shop for an offshore boat. Would like to find a good Fountain in the 35-38' range in the next year or so. Mac
