kudu4u: Here's an idea for you.

For those of you familiar with David Trevallion and Michael McIntosh, this from "Shooting Sportsman", July/August 2000:

“Legend has it that the best rifle pads are covered with tanned Cape buffalo scrotums (scrota, if you are a stickler for Latinate grammar, probably a moot point if you’re one of the buffaloes in question). Because just about everything that can be used in gunmaking has been used a some time for other, we don’t doubt that some of these pads exist, but we have a hard time believing the leather is any better than pigskin. We’ll put it on if you want it, but you’ll have to conduct your own negotiations with buffalo to get the material.â€

For the last couple of years we have been banding our bull calves (domestic cattle) to castrate them rather than knife cut. This especially works well for bigger yearlings (500 to 700lbs). In the process of them drying up and falling off they begin to have unique odor. One morning while riding pastures and checking on some cattle my dog found a few under some trees where the cattle had been resting. I picked a few up and put them in a large zip-lock bag, labeled them as "scrotum jerky" and sent them to a buddy priority mail.

As a general rule, people are nuts!

It appears as though we've been measuring our buffalo incorrectly....instead of estimating inches of spread....40 inches...45 inches and a whopper 50 inches.....we only have to estimate the size of balls that will fit the...well...you know.....

A hunter and his Ph come back to camp and tell everyone that all they saw was golf ball size today but will look for bigger ones tomorrow. The hunter has insisted on baseball size as a minimum but tennis balls might work.

There was a rumor that a couple soft ball size buffs were available but no one had seen them lately. The golden ring in the rowland and Ward book was a real bowling ball bag taken in Tanzania in 1926 by a German hunter.

Hey guys....forget the horns.....focus on the balls!!!

Excellent method for Non-entries in the Non-Record Book of The Outer Circle. animal

Cindy Garrison has been known to indulge in Rocky Mountain Oysters Mbogo with the sundowner crowd. What a showgirl.

Bulldog: Perhaps David Trevallion could do it? He is the technical competence behind that quote and a Purdey-trained stock maker. He said it could be done so make him back it up. Then again, I'm sure there are some contributors to this board who could do it.

If you can get it done, I'd surely like to see a pic of it. I have a Cape buffalo scrotum that was removed at my suggestion for this purpose but it was given to me instead. If this sample of one is representative, I'm thinkin' it'll take a master to fit one one over a recoil pad 'cause this one just doesn't look like it would fit. (Perhaps this one was from a small bull? Maybe he had just come out of some cold water?) But then what do I know? Masters of their trades make the impossible look easy. Have a go at it. Good luck.
