this croc was reportedly killed on the ocean beach in west africa (country?) by military. any info?
Looks huge from the front. How long was it?
This picture was circulating around the net about 6-9 months ago. Different story.

Nickudu Pointe-Noire Congo“Contrary to what is reported in the email, the news story says the croc measured 5 meters (equivalent to 16 feet) long and weighed 850 kilos (1,874 lbs., less than half of what the email claims), and identifies its species as Crocodylus niloticus (Nile crocodile), native to fresh-water rivers, lakes and swamps — which would explain why it was so eager to quit the ocean for dry land even though it was confronted by unfriendly humans. It was estimated to be approximately 50 years old.â€

SGraves155Thanks, Nickudu
The top pic started floating around the web about the time the Katrina mess in NOLA was getting straightened out. Captions were to the effect "National Guard kills giant sewer gator". Ya right, with a truck like that and the natty dressed onlookers it's pretty obvious that warn't in the USA.

That sure is a big mother!
How important is size with crocs? We've found that an increasing number of hunters prefer a more colouful but smaller trophy that actually fits into a room or onto a wall. What do you guys think? For me its a case of ... whatever makes you happy!

Rich ElliottYes,
We have a guy coming next month that wants a 10 footer because that's all he has room for. We'll likely take it directly from the Omo River as there are plenty that size there.

Ted GorslineThese big Nile crocs seem longer and much heavier than any of the Australian salt water crocs you see in pictures although I realize the salties, in theory, are supposed to get bigger.
I have a friend in Ethiopia who claims to have shot one more than 21 feet long. I asked him for a photo but so far he hasn't sent it.
