I was in a lot worse than this.

I am sitting in my office watching it snow. For 29 years I would have been loading up my booth, guns, travel gear etc getting ready to drive to Reno or Vegas to attend the SCI Convention. We would normally start at 6am tomorrow morning weather permitting.

The Weather looks bad in western Nevada, high wind, blowing snow, etc. And it's not looking all that promising next weekend for the drive home. I have come across that high desert many times in 4 wheel drive at 30mph trying to get home or just to the next town.

I can say I don't miss the event one single F--king bit. For all those that are about to travel to this event all I can say is good luck and travel safe.

Andrew,

It truly is a desert down here in Las Vegas with more than 300 days a year of sunshine but my pool froze over four mornings in a row and today there was fog thick as mud!!!!!!!!

It's -35 this am at my home. At this temp, never mind looking for the pipe as we pee ice cubes.

PS. Looks like a nice cool fall day in the photos!

Had 5 1/2 inches of snow just after Christmas at my house here in the Northern Chihuahuan Desert of south central New Mexico. Thought I had left it behind in the Pacific Northwest, but no!

My pool is cold enough I used the outdoor shower today instead of jumping in after my run today.

It rained in PHX all night last night; run was a bit challenging this am.

5.5 inches of snow in NM? That's somewhere between a heavy frost and a light dusting.

That made me laugh.

Yesterday and today it was in the 60's F here in the Ozarks. That freaks me out as a northern girl but hey, I have to say it was really nice weather for January. More of the same tomorrow. That means even more will get done around the farm here.

Last year was a whole different story, well below zero and the sewer pipes to the lagoon were freezing up. Open septic lagoons are normal here due to the local geology. Everyone out here was worried their open septic 'poop chutes' where going to freeze and cause their toilets to back up inside their houses. Yep, that is a real hazard here!

Yep it's a desert out here. Just because it's white, doesn't mean it's wet. I have 4 kids with cow elk tags in the Southwest desert of Utah, which borders Nevada. It's been pretty dang cold. We finally have some good tracking snow and it's warming up this week. I plan on taking one of my kids out tomorrow morning for a couple days, then rotating them until we get a few.

This is the best time of year for a meat hunt. Cold temperatures so we don't have to worry about spoilage and the snow keeps the dust down.

There seems to be more wild horses than elk these days so we might have to put tags on a couple of those instead Eeker Big Grin

But yeah, it's a desert out here and it just seems to get drier every year. If anyone is heading to Reno via Highway 50, give me a shout.

You lot are not human beings!

I like to get up in the morning and put some clothes on that work both indoor and outdoor.

Getting into a habit - which I could never get into - of piling on layer after layer of clothes just to step out of the door is just ridiculous! clap
