my opinion is the story is a full on tabloid attack on hunting just done in a kind of sneaky way. I know nothing about the girl in the picture. and wasn't there for the fist thing, so will keep the comments about how I perceived the article. the writing style seem pretty much spot on to how the enquirer used to publish their story's. comments made by people they showed the pic to. posted up in a caption like they were some kind of expert only being left open ended so only an unknowing or caring person could make a connection to this being completely wrong. maybe the lady is a jerk? I dunno. but the story seemed to me to be nothing but tabloid trash aimed at making hunting seem like it is nothing more than blood sport at the least, and wholesale slaughter at the best.

The smell of it being a possibility of photo-shopping is pretty strong. A few more pics from different angles would confirm the suspicion and if one were to give it some serious thought, no matter how dumb that person might be, stooping to that kind of level is hard to believe (she doesn't appear to be stoned nor drunk). Anyone know if she has made any comment in her defense?

Have we not yet figured out the tactics of the anti hunting committee?????????? Hunters are so easily swayed to attack each other that it’s no wonder they are winning the battle?! Let’s getball the facts about us before we condemn our own !! Geeze from the limited shows I’ve seen she can actually shoot and passed a shot at an amazing Tur when she was not comfortable. This is a hell of a lot better than shooting animals up the ass?? Good for thought??

here is her rebuttal , what a load of crap! So someone threw the toy at her and said smile, REALLY? She is holding it looking directly into the camera smiling, does she actually think we are stupid enough to believe this? "I sincerely apologize to the hunting community for the recent unnecessary media attention this situation is drawing. I pray everyone doesn’t believe the published falsehoods and thank you for giving me a chance to explain what would ultimately turn out to be a cleverly designed smear campaign and an ugly media circus: Regarding the horrific photo: Someone dug an old photo up from the grave hoping to capitalize on the press from a legal management hunt for an invasive species of goat. I stood my ground on the legal goat kill because it was the right thing to do, and continue to do so. I am appalled at this fist imagery. Though I do not apologize for pictures of me with organic food, I do apologize for this ridiculous photo. It in no way represents anything other than a set- up/smear campaign by someone who wanted to capitalize on recent publicity that arose from my participation in the management of an invasive species of goat, and the ensuing public dismay over my gender and appearance. Here is how the photo transpired: As my professional photographer was taking some final shots, the guide tossed me the item, said “smile” and quickly snapped and shared a picture before I fully registered what had taken place. To be clear, the photo taken by the guide occurred as my regular cameraman was also taking stills, so my attention was in several different directions. That item was a gag gift from a birthday party’s revelry the night before: not mine. I don’t know why someone brought it into the field. The only relationship between this object and my hunt was inadvertently being photographed with it - I was not intentionally posing with a sex toy to create a disrespectful image, but I do accept responsibility for the terrible way it looks. Shortly thereafter, I was informed by one of my crew that several of the guides had been seen apparently doing drugs. I don’t know if it was true or not but between these allegations and other inappropriateness, I swiftly canceled the next hunt that I originally had booked with these people. With regard to media statements of Jenna Gearing: she left the hunt early simply to care for a sick aunt, not in a righteous outrage. As I had cut the hunt with the guide who set up the nauseating photo, I asked Gearing to advise me of a more suitable outfitter for the next day. She kindly set me up with a good friend who was an outfitter. She posted her joy at hunting with me the following month on Instagram, looking happy and pleased as punch. This isn’t the behavior of a person outraged by my moral values, nor of someone who thinks I shouldn’t hunt in the UK. She has remained in friendly contact with me through October. I have texts and evidence to support this. Gearing’s apparent dishonesty was wrong and is affecting my reputation. It’s ludicrous hypocrisy for a woman who eats raw deer heart on camera to accuse me of barbarism. Releasing this photo and these statements only hurts the entire hunting community. Women need to stand up for themselves when these things happen, as there is trend to rabidly attack females who hunt. My intent is to show the world the opportunities hunting entails. This smear campaign derails that goal. I would like to offer a truce. This nonsense is unnecessary, inauthentic, unhelpful to those of us that care about conservation. Stop the insanity and slander. It’s a self-serving distraction and damages the hunting community and resulting conservation opportunities." Jerry Huffaker State, National and World Champion Taxidermist

Like someone else said, I do not understand how what she was holding is a sex toy. I in no way put any faith into what a British tabloid says. Having said that , one would think that a hunting personality would have an idea how photographs can be used against hunters. One would think that she would have exercised extreme caution. Perhaps she did and the story is all BS. I have no idea. It occurs to me that just a few weeks before, she was involved in another controversy in Scotland. Some of the things published were absurd. She pretty much told the ARA and the press to F off. Perhaps they are retaliating. I have no idea. The entire thing seems odd to me.

https://www.foxnews.com/great-...-controversial-photo HUNTING Published 2 hours ago Hunter and host of 'Larysa Unleashed' faces gun charges in Scotland over 'goat trophy' Ryan Gaydos By Ryan Gaydos | Fox News Host of 'Larysa Unleashed' gets slammed for posing with a dead goat Larysa Switlyk, the host of “Larysa Unleashed” who sparked controversy after posting a picture of herself with a dead goat during a hunting trip in Scotland, faces criminal charges in the country. Switlyk posted the photos of herself and a friend during their hunting trip on the Scottish island of Islay in October. She was slammed after calling her trip a “fun hunt.” Scottish officials reported Switlyk and another man to prosecutors for firearms offenses, police said. “Following several complaints of wild goat 'trophy' hunting on Islay in (October), Police Scotland can now confirm that a 33-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man from the USA have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for firearms offences,” police said in a statement. She was reported under section 11a of the Firearms Act 1968, which refers rules for someone who borrows or lends a firearm for hunting, according to BBC. Such person must be using the firearm for hunting animals, follow the rules of the lender’s certificate and be accompanied by the lender. Judy Murray, a Scottish tennis coach and mother of tennis star Andy Murray, called the photos “disgraceful.” “A unique hunt? Disgraceful. It’s a goat. And it’s in Scotland. On a beautiful island. Stop this please,” Murray tweeted while tagging the Scottish government’s Twitter handle. First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon even got wind of the pictures and tweeted her reaction. “Totally understandable why the images from Islay of dead animals being held up as trophies is so upsetting and offensive to people. [The] Scottish Government will review the current situation and consider whether changes to the law are required,” she wrote. Scottish minister Mike Russell has since called for an end of hunting the wild goats on the island, according to the Evening Standard. Fox News' Kathleen Joyce contributed to this report. https://nypost.com/2018/12/24/...ooting-farm-animals/ US huntress facing Scottish firearm charges for shooting ‘farm animals’ By Connor Boylan, The Sun December 24, 2018 | 11:58am | Updated An American big game hunter who posed for pictures with slain goats and sheep in Scotland is facing firearms charges. TV host Larysa Switlyk, 33, shared a photograph posing with a wild goat on the island of Islay in the autumn but was widely criticized for the shot. The TV personality shared the photograph in a tweet that said it was a “fun hunt” and a “perfect 200 yard shot.” But it was revealed on Monday that she has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal over the alleged offenses in September. The Procurator Fiscal is Scotland’s version of a district attorney. Argyll and West Dunbartonshire cops also confirmed that a 41-year-old man from the US had been reported. A statement said: “Following several complaints of wild goat ‘trophy’ hunting on Islay in September, Police Scotland can now confirm that a 33-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man from the USA have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for firearms offenses.” It comes after she was branded “barbaric” for posting images of her kills, which included a bloodied ram, a goat and a red stag. A petition was even started calling for the Scottish government to put a total ban on the hunting. Sure she's an idiot, but she's our idiot, or more specifically SCI's idiot. If SCI would make a BIG stink by tossing her from the "club", withdrawing any advertising from print and video sports media, and not allowing her other sponsors from using the "club" shows, dinners and other internal media. This would stop. Same for Bwana Sullivan and others. Same for any other organization. Most people know what's right or wrong, and know the political climate we all face. Only a pure idiot wouldn't know what's stupid or offensive. Add their enormous pride at how funny or clever they think they are with the power and/or money they wield, then it's too late when we finally have to pay for mistakes. Money is a powerful drug and I doubt that SCI, DSC,NRA,NTA,IGFA or any other acronym "club" would take action against any moneyed donor or connected member who didn't mean harm. I'm tired of professional "speakers" or "talent" (read as anyone on tv or in print)who misspoke or was misrepresented. Only to be forgiven if they belong to a "club" or way of life that's protected. They know they shouldn't have behaved that way in the first place, but felt they were above reproach. No one acts or stands behind their position anymore. They apologize for something that may be unpopular and hope it goes away. They stand for nothing yet everything. It's on all levels too. Here in NJ deer hunting is big. "Clubs" make big drives and slugs aren't allowed for safety reasons. One guy(a land-owner) however used slugs, and members complained one or two at a time to the President in private. An emergency meeting was called, the Pres called out this unsafe behavior, lo and behold the members thought he didn't mean to do it. Not one member would speak out, but the President quit right then and six more never showed up again. He also got caught stealing $300 of steaks and other food, but the three eye witnesses and other members said "he's a good guy, he didn't mean it". No money or steaks ever came back. Another one that's been going on a long time. This one guy leases 200-300 acres every year at $5000 to $12000/100acres. His "club" is 5 or so friends, plus their family who get to hunt his leases. Their only job is to post, play security, laugh at his jokes, get food&liquor and give him every buck tag possible for bow, black powder and shotgun they get. Same with any family members who hunt the land. Members do however get to keep their bow rut and one 6 day firearm buck tag. So it's not like he isn't generous. Isn't he a great guy? This is as far as my complaining will go because it isn't my job to play morality police on anyone. I haven't joined any "clubs" in twenty years, when my life membership at the National Trappers Association is over, I'll be dead. These are causes for very clever, powerful comedians to straighten out. It just doesn't work from the bottom up anymore. Too much kissing a "nice guys" ass. Anytime politics is brought into a pastime, first the enjoyment goes out of it, secondly sides are chosen and lastly it will go away as result of whatever public perception is created and lack of will to stand for something. I didn't proof read this so I'm sure someone will.

With the day of ubiquitous cameras remember everyone from camp staff to trackers to game scouts can record your precious moments. The she hunters photo was leaked and exploited to do maximum damage to hunting. You gentlemen are certainly contributing to to howling masses. Food for thought. Jeff
