I spoke with Saeed today and he has agreed to let Tim Wegner use the AR Logo on the knives for the members here.

Now Tim has another question and is on his way out the door to a show. I offered to try and sort this out for him in his absense. I figured I will cheat and use the wealth of knowledge here.

He said to me he would need a high resolution black and white, or he could convert color, picture of the logo. How would he go about getting this Logo in a high res format?

Once he has this he will be able to somehow transfer it/ laser etch it to the knife blade and send them out.

Any suggestions on getting the logo in high res are welcome.

If the logo is a .jpg, as is used here on the web, it's probably only a 72dpi jpg.

If it was created as a low-res .jpg then it will need to be re-drawn in a vector format to get the quality of graphic you're looking for, i.e.: and .eps or illustrator file.

The question is probably to Saeed (or whomever designed the logo) as to what format it was designed in.

I can help with it if you can find out what we have to work with.

Any original image can be re-scanned at the required 350dpi using photoshop. Original means in Digital format which has not been copied from a print. Obviously the original drawing copied (line art) to digital by photography or scan as a 350 dpi image will work. If the original artwork has been copied to digital at a lesser Dpi (ie. 300 dpi which is what most printers or photolabs use) it can be re-scanned at the higher dpi with a negligible loss of clarity. If it is larger than the prescribed 350 so much the better. Some DSL and cable modems can handle the larger DPI scans but some will compromise integrity when sent via the internet unless an ftp site to site is used. Otherwise it is best to send a hard copy or Disc to Tim.
I will gladly do this if the original artist does not have the capabilities. I would also request a copyright clearance letter to accompany such artwork and would suggest that the same be sent to Tim as a precaution for the future use of the logo.

I had a question also- Where is the logo going to go, on the left side where it normally has Mr. Wegners name? I do not wish to ask Mr. Wegner to remove his name but could it be made smaller? It seems that these blades after they get a logo, member name, and the manufacturer name are going to look like an attractive lady with a bunch of miscellaneous tatoos all over...

Just my 2 cents.

is it the

Wegner Professional Hunters Knife Carbon Fiber

i had one and loved it, it was a spyderco model with a round hole with g10 scales it was heavy and i liked the weight of it. the handle was very comfortable in my hand with a great reverse grip hold for fighting if needed. i have carbon fiber handle knives but on this one i prefer the g10, can it be done for those who would rather it that way?

i lost my last one and would not mind another

I recommend the combo edge. The teeth on these types of blades are great in cutting tough stuff.

I have told cchunter about this thread. There seems to be two versions of the logo, so I guess he is sorting out his files to find the right one...

Got this one from cchunter:

Cchunter asked me to post it since he had problems with his firewall. He told me that there were several versions, with different buffs, and it was decided (by Saeed I guess?) that this one should be the final one. It was the one used on the caps, but apparently one of the other versions were used for the patch and then the stuff in the AR shop. I don't know the details myself about this.

Cchunter, plese correct me if I misunderstood this.

Regards,
Martin

I have never seen a buff IRL but to me he looks as if someone had said something nasty about his mum... And he looks determined... Smiler

Hey Fellas

Here is an update on the AR member knife project.

First off we recieved the logo copy (Thanks to Marterius!) and my Son Bryce is in the process of cleaning it up for the etching process. Basically he's re-drawing it so that it will etch as a clean black logo mark.

The knives pictured on our website and in our catalog have a larger logo and were done offsite. We now do that all ourselves in house and have reduced the size about 40%.

Typically we etch the business or agency logo in the center of the blade just to left of the BT logo and do the personalization on the reverse side. I works pretty well that way and we have had to complaints.

To do it differently would cause some production problems in that everything is set up to be done in batches. We are in the process of finishing a batch of the USA made knives.

Once the current batches of knives are done the AR Knives will be pulled out of stock to fill your orders. The orange G10 materialis about 2 weeks out.

The Lite knives are already in stock!

Thanks

Tim

FYI

I didn't catch the price typo on the PH-Lite in the Order form. It was listed at the MSRP and should have been $42.50 Oops! It has been corrected and should be fixed by tonite.
Any order forms faxed or sent in with the incorrect pricing will be corrected to show the special package price!

Thanks

Tim
