Like fairgame suggests, you should consider Zambia. There are lots of native species (including some that are either Zambia exclusives or close to it), and it's true wild Africa, with lions, leopards, and elephants roaming about.

gotsnoname, You can buy some very inexpensive hunts on non game fenced property in Namibia and we work with a couple of outfits that will offer you a hassle free experience with good trophies. Having said that my first choice is a plains game hunt at plains game rates but in an area having the Big 5. Chasing kudu where you may have to run from elephants or bump a rhino is an all together different experience than a ranch hunt. We can offer this in Zim and Mozambique. Contact me anytime if you'd like further details. Mark MARK H. Zimbabwe comes to mind first, but don't rule out taking a look at Mozambique.

And an excellent one I might add. I would also add that what Mark Young posted about the experience of hunting plains game among free roaming dangerous game certainly increases the thrill of the experience. ______________________ DRSS ______________________ Hunt Reports 2015 His & Her Leopards with Derek Littleton of Luwire Safaris - http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/2971090112 2015 Trophy Bull Elephant with CMS http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/1651069012 DIY Brooks Range Sheep Hunt 2013 - http://forums.accuratereloadin...901038191#9901038191 Zambia June/July 2012 with Andrew Baldry - Royal Kafue http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/7971064771 Zambia Sept 2010- Muchinga Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/4211096141 Namibia Sept 2010 - ARUB Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6781076141

for the first experience I suggest Namibia. As Mark told ther'are some very good unfenced areas for plains game and this for me is the best choice for you. Even the prices in Namibia are the cheapest int the whole continent but this not for a lower quality of the hunt. mario

Mark's and Mario's comments are right on in my limited opinion. Mark arranged a hunt for me last year with Arub Safaris in Namibia which turned out to be a fantastic experience and good value. However, there is lots to be said about choosing an area which you also will be sharing with some of the Big 5 and if I did it again that would be my choice.

Thanks, appreciate the info thus far… Been on AR, for more than just recent, and am strictly just shopping, opinions/ ideas. Won’t be the first gig, but I’m far from knowledgeable on all aspects. Yes, entertaining all options, thanks again…

Your "unfenced" criterion pretty much rules out RSA, Botswana, and the private land, what little is left, in Zim. So the answer must be Namibia, where there is still some private hunting property that is not fenced. The other option is to hunt government land in Zim, but you will pay 50% more, and see 50% less game on any given day, than on a fenced property. However, you will also see elephant, buffalo, leopard (tracks) and lion (tracks unless you are lucky). I think you should consider some of the larger fenced properties. Those, by and large, give you the best value for money for a PG hunt. For example, we can put you on a 60,000 acre property in RSA that is fenced 3 sides, open (river) on the 4th side. You just cannot beat the Kafue Flats, a vast unexplored wetland, hunting for a couple of days. Then into the thorn and and thicket of the Luangwa Valley to mix it with dangerous game. If you have a double then bring it along. ROYAL KAFUE LTD Email - kafueroyal@gmail.com Tel/Whatsapp (00260) 975315144 Instagram - kafueroyal

Had to climb over and through a few in Namibia chasing critters. The fence doesn't even slow them down. ______________________ DRSS ______________________ Hunt Reports 2015 His & Her Leopards with Derek Littleton of Luwire Safaris - http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/2971090112 2015 Trophy Bull Elephant with CMS http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/1651069012 DIY Brooks Range Sheep Hunt 2013 - http://forums.accuratereloadin...901038191#9901038191 Zambia June/July 2012 with Andrew Baldry - Royal Kafue http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/7971064771 Zambia Sept 2010- Muchinga Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/4211096141 Namibia Sept 2010 - ARUB Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6781076141

The Save Conservancy is Fenced, but its just shy of 1 million acres in area and only has an external fence. I doubt most clients ever see the fence and the animals are defintely not contained. This is private land and the Conservancy as a whole has some great operators and lodges on it. All of the safari areas in the Zambezi Valley are unfenced and have vast areas of wilderness. many of these are run by private hunting companies such as Charlton MacCallum , HHK etc. Zimbabwe does have a lot of unfenced game areas which would certainly fit your criteria and could offer you a big variety of species along with great camps and excellent PHs

Ussually. I was hunting on a cattle ranch in Namibia a few years ago. The place was run by an old woman whose son would come out and do all of his shooting from the back of a truck. The animals fled at the sight of a truck, but that actually helped us because they'd stop to look at people on foot. Anyway.... One day we were driving down a ranch road beside a 3 strand cattle fence when 3 gemsbok bolted out of the bush in front of us and dashed across the road. The first 2 made it throught the fence without breaking stride. The third one hit a wire at full speed and was fired ass over tea kettle back across the road like she'd been shot from a bow. She made it through on the second attempt, but was more careful that time.
