Indeed it does Ann, and sales were sort of flat. But with this thread, we should soon start seeing those royalty checks again. Keep on posting Zim! Big Grin

If I had the best frontal brain shot of the whole DVD, I'd watch it every day. Nice shooting Ann beer

As I said I'm sure it is a very good hunting video but my original question has still (consider the word still underlined) to be answered - what exactly is special about hunting Elephant that does not apply to any other animal hunted in Africa. I might refer you to Dr. Kevin Robertson's (known in some circles as 'Doctori') excellant book 'The Perfect Shot' which goes into great detail about shooting all major African game. Of course you do have to be able to read to utilize it and not just look at the pretty pictures. If you do as I did you would also carry a pocket abbreviated copy of it with you while hunting Africa. The one I utilized was published by African Hunter magazine I believe. It is obvious I am missing the magic produced by watching a video.

Zim

Don't worry you have not offended me. Yes I have seen some of Kevin Robertsons's book and it is good to (I can read quite well) but by your premise why should anyone need to read any book on hunting or how to hunt any species of animal.
A DVD or video is just a modern form of the book.

Buzz's DVD contains two interviews, one with Sten Cedergren and the other with Richard Harland, both very experienced hunters particularly on elephant. You cannot get the same enjoyment from a book that you get from seeing and hearing these great hunters 'in person'.

It would be absolutely priceless for most of us to see and hear interviews with WDM Bell, Pondoro Taylor, Jim Corbett, and many of those other great hunters of an era we never lived in.

Buzz's DVD is worth every penny.

eagle27 - I wish to make one last comment before I leave this subject. Never in any instance did I say or imply (if implied it was not meant to be) that no study should be made of the game animals you are going to hunt in Africa. I merely asked a simple question about what was so special about hunting the Elephant that could be taught by this DVD and what was so different that it didn't apply to the other animals you hunt. I'm sure the PH who produced this DVD is totally capable as are most of the PH's I have met in Zimbabwe though I have only hunted with a few. He is well thought of on this and other forums I follow. I'm glad his sales have picked up because of this thread as I am aware of how poorly paid most of the PH's there are. My question will obviously remain unanswered, so be it. In my life I have had many unanswered questions.
