I'm sure it probably will fall on deaf ears but I just had to make a comment on the Nat Geo article.

These people that commented negatively are blinded by the disinformation that these anti hunitng zealots are spewing. The scariest part is they are convinced they are right. Because the aricle came from SCI they know that it is all lies. I find this disturbing that so many people could be dead wrong and not know it.

Gosh, did SCI do something right? Whistling Oh well, I know the SCI bashers will find something to complain about. wave

How about the guy, Brett Thomson, who can't stop posting in the thread who repeatedly cites his guide friends in the Masai Mara as knowing about lion hunters, et. al.? The fact is that the Masai Mara is a national park in Kenya. Kenya has not allowed hunting ANYWHERE in the country since 1977 . This hunting ban has resulted in an almost complete lack of wildlife outside of their parks, due to the illegal poaching by their citizens. His guide friends have never conducted nor observed a hunting safari in Kenya!

BTW, I have been to Kenya, twice, the first time in 1994 when I traveled throughout the country, including their parks, including time spent in the Masai Mara.

Just goes to show you how many coward imbeciles the Internet has created. Plenty of big mouth until you meet them in person...different story then. As Wendell said; angry, ignorant people. To me they are Sheeple.

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. the negative comments remind me of the old idiom-"never confuse a fool with facts". or alternatively,"never try to teach a pig to dance- it frustrates you and bores the pig"...... kudos to Nat Geo for printing this piece.

Not to mention the fact that the Masai have almost completely exterminated the lion from the Mara.

And the Masai are allowed to legally run cattle in the Mara and even in the Ngorongoro Crater, which is also a World Heritage Site! They are the only tribe that has this privilege. Wonder if they've ever killed any of the Crater Lion, either in defense of their cattle or for the manhood ceremony?

Like all good detectives...you knew the answer to that question before you asked it!

This thread on Nat GEO commented on by Pieter Kat of Lion Aid : please can someone go on and ask the question : Why was Dr Pieter Kat's contract to conduct the Botswana DWNP lion survey canceled , he was once a pro utilization advocate but his contract was allegedly terminated and he discovered that anti hunters will donate bucket loads of cash if he became anti hunting, hence the lion aid blog/ thread.
