Day 11,

No one got much sleep, heavy rain, thunder, and lightning kept everyone awake. The Sengwa River is really flowing.

We were concerned Buddy would not get out on the charter plane because of the rain. Even though he did not get his sable or waterbuck Buddy said that it was worth the price of admission to see the lions.

I almost got a nice buff today. Terry took Rick on a 5 hour hike following elephant tracks. No shooter bull yet.

Man, please send some of that rain over to the Limpopo province then get some clear weather and a big dead buff too. Hope the weather plays along.

The camp received word last night that the Game Scouts shot a poacher in the reserve area bordering Chirisa.

PH Kenneth Moyo spotted some dugga boys by the Sengwa River that crossed over from the Research Area. Swirling winds ruined the stalk and they were gone.

Elephant hunting was a bust today. Nothing even close to 50 pounds.

Three days to go!!!!

We're all rooting for you and Rick. Hang in there, you know the last minute of the last day. I hope you catch that daggaboy before he crosses back into the reserve. Tomorrows another day. Good hunting, David

The elephant is down. A 17 yard frontal brain shot with Rick's 416. Tracks were found early this morning and after two hours the three bulls were located. Rick wanted this bull with a 45 pound right tusk and his left tusk was far bigger in circumference but broken off 3/4 down.

I got on some buffalo but swirling winds again.

The lions are realy roaring tonight.

Chased buffalo all day. We got very close to dugga boys on two seperate occassions but luck was not with us.

A 7 foot python was crossing the dirt road. Apprentice PH Phillip stopped the vehicle and everyone but me (the only smart one) got off the vehicle to take pictures of the snake. PH Terry being clever, picked up the snake's tail as he was crawling into a deadfall. The snake spun around quickly to bite Terry. Everyone scattered as the snake crawled away.

Alan went on an anti-poaching patrol. He found watermelons by a waterhole that had been filled with poison.

Need some luck for the last day.

Last day and no buffalo. I appreciate the great effort Terry, Trackers Maxwell and Tadius put into this hunt. Maybe next time. We got close a couple of times but it was not to be. The 46 incher will be waiting for someone else.

Tough break, Kathi. But now you have an excuse for next time, as though one were needed, and memories of this time to hold you over until then.

I will just say congratulations, as they are due and payable to anyone who has gone into the thick stuff after buff, no matter the result.
