In 2010, I think, I met Greg at the DSC show to talk about a hunt. It was well after noon and he was trying to choke down some concession food. So while he ate, we BSed for a bit.

Somehow internet forums came up and he laughed and said the reason he didn't post as much as he could was the chronically bad behavior of some posters and all the drama and arguing.

Probably a bit of irony there if you look for it.

Crazyhorse, a wise man knows when to acknowledge when he's wrong and move on. An unwise man chooses to debate his improper words or actions in the face of clear evidence that he is wrong. Which do you prefer to be here?

You're totally out of line with your original comment, and your timing in posting it is terrible. Simple as that. Over the years, we've ALL said things on there that we would take back if we could, and for you this should be one of those moments. Instead of trying to defend yourself when it is clear you should not have said what you did, when you did, just take the high road and at least stop debating with people who are demonstrating better sense on this than you are.

You were wrong, you are still wrong. Accept it, stop digging a deeper hole, and move on. SHEESH!

Remember having a drink with him and Aaron at DSC last year watching a ball game. His unselfish way of giving a good friend of mine a scope for his .270 which I picked up at the same show for the friend back in Africa.

The friendly smile and easy speaking manner. The total no BS approach to business. Man, I am shocked at this.

The family are in my prayers. His hunting grounds now have no tags, no boundaries is loaded with the biggest trophies! RIP brother!

An HONEST man knows when to state his opinion, regardless of the popular sentiment. At NO point have I said anything derogatory about Mr. Rodriguez, other than NONE OF US know what happened, or why it happened.

If you or ANYONE else can prove me wrong, do so.

I do not have anything to apologize for. All I have said was that there was more to this story than what has been brought to light so far.

You folks are NOT the final authority on ANYTHING. This is the internet and EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion, popular or not.

At NO POINT, have I accused Mr. Rodriguez of anything. My sympathies go out to the families involved. I have serious doubts that any of you folks wishing that I would fall over dead, are members of either of the two folks that died during this event, families.

If I am wrong, you have my condolences.

Otherwise, I have the right to my opinion, and my opinion is that for whatever his reasons, the woman's husband made a decision to do something and acted upon that decision.

You have now proven that you either have one big mouth, very small feet, or maybe both because you have put both feet in and just keep right on going!!! You're absolutely lacking any concept of courtesy and common sense!!! I have only seen one person that has tried to come to your defense on these two threads about Greg and he only had one other post on this website. It sure must be lonely down there in Olney to stoop to what you have since yesterday to get attention---sad, very very sad!!!

I would like to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers. His family as well as the hunting and shooting communities endured a great loss with his passing.

Greg was dear friend for many years as well as my boss at GAO. We are devastated by the senseless tragedy that occurred. Our world is a bit darker without GRod in it.

For those folks who are attempting to tarnish the reputation of Greg without any facts or evidence, I ask that you show some decorum for our friend and stop.

A simple request... any comments that go beyond offering condolences to the families of those affected, please move, or remove the posts from this thread, so this thread may stand as a place for those offering condolences and support.

At least leave this thread as a sacred spot.

Thanks.

To the families and friends near those of the deceased,

I extend my most deep and sincere condolences. There would not be anything that people could say at this time to alleave your grief, but please, allow some friends to help, no matter how useless it seems...

it's perfectly ok to cry on shoulders, and allow others to carry you through this dark time in your lives.

Peace and Healing.

Sincerely,

So very sad to hear about Greg. I first met Greg at a HGCA gun show, were he had a table for his new booking company, Mombasa Trading Co. I bought a cap from him, cause I liked the logo, (big Cape buff) on it. I ran into Greg SEVERAL years later at the Bass Pro store in Katy. He saw me and called me by name and asked if I was ready for my buff hunt yet. Greg had a GREAT memory!, and was a great guy!

Even thou I never was able to book a hunt with Greg, he was always friendly and had time for a visit.

He will be missed!

Keith

Why don't these miserable psychos ever get the order right, and kill themselves first?

Tribute to Greg

I write this post with a very broken heart. I was stunned to learn of the tragic death of my longtime friend Greg Rodriguez.
Greg was a great friend and was instrumental in getting me to the hunters paradise of Africa for the first time in 2004.
We shared some of my best hunting memories together. He was by my side when it took my record book leopard & buffalo in Zimbabwe 2005 with our mutual mate PH Rodie Tourle and our cameraman brother Garrick Cormack. Most of all he was a great companion, the kind of guy that makes the evening campfire a special place. He was an amazing, witty writer, gun expert and the consummate hunter and conservationist.
He was a great shot and cool under pressure. I saw him shoot a charging bush pig twice at 3' in the blink of an eye. Greg was a loving father and husband and always talked about his family and how blessed he was. He was the Grandfather of my special little nutjob Jack Russell "Tuffy Jr" the son of his dynamo father, "Tuffy Sr" Greg's fearless & faithful hunting companion . Though Greg wasn't close to being 6' tall he hunted and wrote like he was 8' tall. As I have read news blogs, media feeds and various forums over the past few days I have seen some derogatory commentary. I would caution all to heed this; "There but for the Grace of God go I & judge not lest ye be judged. The focus needs to be on the healing and support of his precious family: Wife Lisa, daughter Chloe & son Cole. Though I live in Washington State I AM a Texan by blood. (As my dad always said we were Texican's). As are Greg and his family. Heck everyone on this forum is family whether by Texsas blood or the mutual love of hunting we share....I love how Wilbur Smith portrayed his characters bonds in many of his books like "Assegai", Brothers of the Warrior Blood!Thats what we are...
My Prayer is this, during this Easter season (a season of renewal) may the Risen Lord and Healing Jesus, give Lisa, Chloe & Cole and the rest of his family and friends "The Peace that passes all understanding" in this trying time. May we his family and industry brothers all lend a hand to their support in the coming months.
To Greg: we who are left behind and knew you, we love you & will miss you dearly. You will be forever in our memories.
Your "BOWB" TW

I will say this. Greg was a competitor of mine in every professional way possible. He competed in safari sales, he competed with me as a writer, and most recently as a talented video producer and television host\producer. Usually those conflicts do not produce fast friendships, but that is EXACTLY WHAT I SHARED with this fine man. Greg is a man of integrity, a fact stated by all who know him well. I have very much enjoyed Greg's recent success in the TV business, and he is a producer who rises on the merits of his own product, rather than undermine those of his competitors- A rare bird in our game. I have had tears a plenty, white hot anger, and the deep despair that comes with not having the understanding and the ability to make sense of why this could happen to such a good man. I am a man that needs to know the "whys"in life, but the LORD is not providing any answers to this horrible reality. We will help Greg's family, and production team in any way possible, as I know he would do for us. Pray for his family, be there for them if you know them, and do not second guess if you do not. For damn sure, the ONE THING we know for sure, our entire hunting\ shooting family lost one of it's very best.
Greg was a fine son, husband, father, and friend. He will be remembered as such...
