1.) ...more than...
It is his style, he dont wait, he goes for the animals. Please find (and this will be not so easy) an PH -or better go for an self-guided hunt- and do this. Then you will see -and this very quick- you quick an charge is.

2.) ...shoot the Clients animals...
Please look at the statics form Cal P., this is not true.

Best wishes.

That is truly a case of the dark side of the moon calling the sun "black." cuckoo

And PLEASE do not besmirch Australia by associating Trax/Trash with that wonderful country.

Have you stopped beating your wife and cheating on your taxes? Exactly...All represent an impossible question to answer as presented.

Back to one of the original questions at hand...So asking the obvious question…you mean to tell me (and I'm supposed to believe) you could stop this charging killing machine with a .243? If this is true and this is so easily done, then why is Sullivan the only person on the planet with charging hippo footage if stopping an enraged rogue bull hippo is as easy as some would say?

This is exactly what you do in all your posts to belittle other people like you have done with Michael by calling him "primitive"
and a "backyard person" in the tests that he has done.

Pointing out the fact that Michael458 is not an official test lab appointed by CEB,
and that M458 has nothing official to do with the company CEB,
does make him a backyard operator when it comes providing pressure figures on CEB bullets.

Oct2011, I posted that I found CEB had no load data available on its website for its brass bullets,
M458s forum response was that he would test and provide me figures....nice offer, but NO THANKS,
because it was not wise to rely on figures not confirmed or approved by CEB, that arrive from a backyard operator,
who essentially has nothing to do the CEB company or product, in any official capacity.

Re: Primitive],... I used that in the context of the extensive explicit fowl language M458 recently and subsequently used,
simply because I pointed out the certain above stated facts concerning his non-official capacity to represent CEB products/load data/pressure figures.
The immature response that followed by him, does show him as rather primitive....and all the technology in the world or personal testing of CEB
bullets, does not change that.

It's sad, when talented people kill themselves like that, Ruark was about 49 if I recall correctly. But, Ruarks drinking, didn't deminish his writing ability.
Any time a new book of his came out, it was almost guaranteed to make the best seller list. Something of Value was on the list for over 6 months, at or near the top.
I'm not a drinker, either, but not going to try to devalue someones accomplishments because they are. I just doubt Trax has EVER read anything Ruark wrote, or that Capstick wrote either.
Obviously, he's never read Taylor's books.

If you want to admire people like:
- Craptick who needed a beer to prop himself up before hunting...
- Ruark who drank himself to death cutting short a life that could have enjoyed much more literary success and hunting..

Then I seriously question your intelligence level.

I consider those identities rather ignorant no matter what worldly/commercial success they happen to achieved and
that you praised them for....Putting the destructive bottle before writing or hunting, is no measure of a wise man.

AND I am still wondering, why,
you indicate that you would have LOVED to be in isolation with one homosexual[in Africa],
but have expressed nothing but disdain and mistrust for the gay military personel that serve your nation.
You evidently have internal conflict issues that require attention.

A normal PH would avoid getting charged, as you heard so many pros tell you here.

Only an utter idiot goes out of his way to get charged right in the open so he can show how brave he is.

Hunting should never be brought down to the level of the chest thumping bullies!

Saeed,
I say that if you ran a Safari company and said such sober truths on your website
you will miss all the trade from the chesTthumping Alpha males out to prove their manhood-feed their egos.
Some who claim to 'do battle' with what i consider, to be inferior intelligence bovine.
IF one feels they are genuinely battling against a bovine, it indicates the human involved is barely above the intelligence level of a cow.
And anyone who uses that approach/psychology to attract clients, is indicating what they really think of their clients.

Todd,

I hope our friendship as hunters and members of AR goes far beyond disagreeing on our discussions.

I don't have any friends with whom I do not disagree with sometimes. And the sign of a good friendship should never be so shallow as it gets terminated by disagreeing on things we see in our lives.

Have a great hunt, and enjoy yourself.

EY:

"I have been told on another thread, that hippo are easily killed with a small caliber weapon. A .243 was recommended if I remember correctly".

A well placed shot from a .243 will EASILY kill a Hippo - Period!
It should also be understood that the conditions for the perfect shot are in place.

To accept the challenge of a charging Hippo with a .243 would be foolhardy and the resulting consequences would likely be in favour of the Hippo.

Should the charge materialize over a reasonable distance and given that the shooter is more than acquainted with the rifle, sufficient time to aim, he/she might just pull it off - in such instance I would however ensure I had some serious firepower to back me in the event of a balls up.

In a nutshell:

Will a .243 KILL a Hippo? - YES.
Will a .243 STOP a charging Hippo? - HIGHLY UNLIKELY.

100% in agreement my friend. Very disappointing .

Larry,

People question MS just like people [including you and I] questioned whether C.Boddington was on an illegal Banteng hunt.
[as it turned out, CBs wife was on the alleged illegal Banteng hunt....which CB conveniently failed to mention in his OP]
Had CB stop beating around the bush from the outset and instead reveal that it was actually his wife on the hunt,
it would really have helped clear the accusation layed against him, much much sooner.
[Strangely enough, neither did his wife have the volition to come on AR to help clear and vindicate CB of any wrong doing.]

To some people on AR what people asked or questioned on that thread [started by CB himself], was offensive and disappointing to them,
But that didn't stop you or I enquiring... Nor should it.
Why?...because both of us are not distracted or blinded by the stardom or celebrity status, of some hunters, be it CB or MS.

Its so hypocritical to severely attack more ordinary people like Shootaway for his mess-ups in the field,
but at the other extreme make a world of pathetic excuses for celebrity hunters who may be breaking the law,
or happen to cause serious wreckless endangerment, by shooting their tracker or PH.

Nothing Shootaway has done in the field, is anywhere near as wreckless or serious, as someone shooting their PH or tracker.
Yet for some reason, celebrity hunters who commit most serious wreckless acts, have a pile of fans/people running to their defence.
now,
Like MS or not, MS to date has yet to be suspected of doing anything illegal, or that has caused any actual wreckless endangerment/serious harm to
client or staff,
yet he receives tons more flack than those celebrity hunters who have clearly exhibited serious life threatening reckless endangerment acts in the field,
toward their tracker or PH.

I just flew home after spending the last few days with Mark in the editing studio. Post production and video editing work for Mark’s newest DVD, Death in Full-Charge, has been completed. For those who are interested, Death in Full-Charge is filmed entirely on location in Tanzania and features 10 exciting dangerous game hunts.

Shot on camera are two fabulous leopards, two great maned lions, four monster Cape buffalo bulls, and two of the greatest hippo charges of all-time! I will provide additional release date information (besides the February 2014 date) once I have an exact date to report.

since you like to see photos maybe you can ask AR member Sean Russell, to show footage or images of himself

..'sweating real blood and drinking water from a muddy track'.. whilst hunting.

as so far, none have been forthcoming from him.

Sean Russells bizarre antics in the field combined with Mark Sullivans dramatic 'facing death' situations,...would make a rather comical video compilation.
