How's the song go..... "my bags are packed, I'm ready to go"......
Thanks to the stinginess of British Airways in regards to mileage seating these days we are taking a multi national tour on our way over to Zambia adding a connection in Vancouver. This adds another chunk of paperwork and a fee.
We leave Anchorage Saturday at 0720 and arrive in Lusaka Monday at 0615. When I see the pair of tuffpaks there with us I will relax. Right now I'm a bit worried about all the connections.

Good luck your safari.
I only start feeling comfortable when our charter flight takes off.
Then I know that everything is in order, and we are ready to have fun.
Travel safe and good luck.

AND LETS NOT FORGET THE FUEL SURCHARGE B.A. CHARGES ! ONE GRAND TO AFRICA !
logistical nightmares.
brit air USED to be my favorite international airline and 1st class accomodation to boot. now i view them as just another southworst experience. chickens and pigs in the overhead bins. screaming and such. well ... maybe i'm a bit facetious here.

oh well ! thats PROGRESS .
i always beat feet to the lounge after each segment and have the gals verify that my tuffpack is locked up and secured until the next flight. i also have them verify it's loaded before the preboarding announcement.
i'm gonna miss their service.
If u want missing trophies, stolen trophies, crap mounts or replacement minature trophies .....use KARL HUMAN TAXIDERMY in east london, south africa.

impala#03Hunted Zambia last October,it was worth all the hassle. I had 6 connections going and coming, everything went off without any problems.
I stayed overnight in Lusaka going and coming. It sure helped to catch up after all the air time.
Good luck on your hunt!!!

We have 8 connections going and coming. The only one I'm really worried about is the Seattle to Vancouver leg on Horizon Air (Alaksa Air). We will have to retake possession of our bags there and re-check onto British Air. If one of the Tuffpaks doesn't make it we are screwed being a mileage ticket. We will never be able to get on another flight and there is only one other Seattle to Vancouver flight later in that day which arrives one hour before our British departure so I doubt we could get checked in time.

I know all will probably be well but as Saeed said, I won't relax until we board the charter.

fairgameIt will be OK Jim.
I managed to buy the last 6 bottles of decent Port in Zambia. Plus the two crates of bubbly that Joyce ordered. We (me and young Joyce) are good to go mate.

And the late addition of the Port.

I didn't see the Single Malt listed though.

Good and realistic advice. You are probably a bit more desensitized to the travel worries based on how often you do it though.
Like Saeed said, I'll feel fine once I'm in Lusaka with baggage all present and accounted for.

FrostbitOne more wake up then gone......

This has been about 18 months in the planning and there were many twists and turns.
We'll have a sat phone and I promised Darin Nelson an occasional update since she's Bait Babe's shooting and champagne partner (never at the same time I'm told).

I'm sure Darin will enjoy placing a teaser or two on here while we are gone.
You all stay well and don't pick on each other too much!!
