I was going to order some North Forks to keep in inventory and currently he is out of many calibers and weights and is in the process of developing a new bullet design. It will be interesting to see what he comes up with. I know my results from the old design were exceptional. He is just modifying the shape a bit. The new ones will be a bit more pointed vs the round to flat tips on the old ones. It may up the BC a bit, primarily done to improve sales. I don't expect it will change the performance on game.

I have some of the new 370gr/.416 cal and 180gr/.308 cal. The difference between the new and old for these two bullets is: 370gr/.416cal: the new bullet has a flat meplate (nose) vs a slightly rounded nose on the old version. The new version shoots as good as the old version in my gun. I will be using this bullet next week in Africa. 180gr/.308cal: the new version does not have any lead exposed at the tip and it has a very slight hollow cavity at the tip....the lead core doesn't come all the way out to the tip. At first look, I thought they kind of looked like a hollow point, but they are not a HP. I think it is a good design, giving a higher ballistic coefficient than the old design. What I don't like about them is the .308caliber are slightly undersized. Mike (Northfork) will tell you this when you order them from him. I ordered a box to try them.....after seating the bullet I could turn the bullet and pull it out with my fingers. Mike said if I had this problem he would turn my resizing button down for me. I shot these bullets out of a 300WSM and they shot real well in my gun. Apparently the reason the bullets are undersized is because is new bullet sizing die was a little undersized. If you have any questions call Mike at Northfork he is a great guy and will bend over backward to help you.

The dies for all the "new designs" have been returned to the die maker for correction. They f--ked up the dimensions on all of them. All remaining stocks will only be sold to those that have used them and had no issues. I have no time frame on when they will be available again.

I just returned from a Mule Deer hunt in NW New Mexico.I killed a big, 6 1/2 yr old with the new 180gr .30's in a 300 Win mag. Terminal performance was OUTSTANDING, dropping the old boy in his tracks after breaking both shoulders and exiting.Accuracy is also excellent.
