A canned lioness hunt by a seven year old was posted my twitter (againt) and facebook (in support).

The picture shows a 7 year old boy who killed a canned lioness using the lioness as a back rest while he plays video games on personal electronic pad device.

This is how we (african hunters) become a joke to the general public.

Yup

I just did not want the picture on my photobucket account.

Thanks,

Mike

You can link directly to the pic URL on DM's website. Wouldn't want that in my stuff either.

But getting back to your point, this is pretty tasteless.

The most horrifying thing about it is that damned video game.

Now THAT's something that should be banned.

"so easy, even a 7-year-old video game addict can do it." So much for the danger in dangerous game.

That is just pathetic. How in hell do you convince people that hunters are not obtuse jerks with a pic like this?

Is there any proof he was playing video games or could he have been flipping through the photos his dad might have taken of him posing with his prize?

I can only post what was reported on the facebook post about the hunt. What I posted is what is on the facebook post. I have no idea what he was looking at or if the picture is photoshopped.

Maybe some Tanzania PHs have ability to interpret into a 2D image and obtain additional information about what someone was looking at or reading or if a round in a rifle is a solid or a soft. Most normal people don't.

I may be mistaken, but the angle of the sun for the lioness (tip of left ear to its shadow) does not match with the kid's shadows (left knee to its shadow, fold in right trouser leg to its shadow).

I wouldn't be surprised if that was some creative photoshopping, although expert analysis would be needed in order to confirm or infirm this.

A very poor decision to shot the pic in the first place. A classic bit of dumbassery for a father to post it. I am a lion hunter, and that pic, for a couple of reasons pissed ME OFF. Posting this kind of stupidity is going to kill us. Lots of respect there... not. Very foolish.

The picture makes a joke of

(1) Dangerous game hunting - 7 and 9 years old hunting canned lioness.

(2) The whole south African canned lion hunting industry - shooting chattle - might as well take your kids to a slaughter house and let them shoot a cow

(3) Disrespectful to the lioness - are dead lions used as back rest for gamers

(4) kid equating killing an animal let alone a apex predator like a lioness to something to go do between video games

This shameful but it seems the standard in south Africa lion shooting is can you pay the bill. Seems Daddy is tight on money - kids will focus on first priority now - video games.

Do we as hunters support this kind of crap?

This kid didn't shoot the lioness, nor is he playing a video game. He's looking at the photos as one member stated.

His dad isn't even the guy in the article, so I'm not sure how this photo ended up there. The animal was 9 years old, not the kid like the "pro hunting" facebook stated.

I know the hunter (I didn't book this hunt), he just took his son along on the hunt.

You should ask the father to contact the Daily Mail and take out the picture and correct the story.

Also ask the father to go to

https://www.facebook.com/game.animals?fref=nf

And take down the picture.

Seems like we have a fight club rule. Don't take pictures will dead lions and put them in the public domain.

In this age of social media and a very talented smart strategic opposition in anti-hunters I am really worried what is pro and anti hunting.

I often worry if what is bad from a pr point of view pro hunting stuff is actually planted.

https://www.facebook.com/game.animals?fref=nf

Same facebook page has

a picture of a guy with 3 dead lions and this written

please share the truth!

#Cecil brothers all shot. I guarantee this one hunt alone put more money into conservation than all the yarbling tree-humpers on facebook and Twitter ever have. 1lion=about 40thousand usd x 3 that is = 120000 USD all going towards conservation
tell me what photo safari ever raised this much money in a week?
or what green radical ever donated even half this amount for anti poaching units or local people and nature??

#hunterspayforallconservation
#withouthunters #nowildlife #nowildlands
#takeafew #oldonesoutayear #andsavetherest

All this canned lion stuff is going to get tied into to Cecil.

No criticism directed at you (my apologies if you took it that way) - mine was merely a comment in response to what others spontaneously assumed the kid was playing video games and as much as I cannot see exactly what he is doing so neither can others claim he was playing video games.

No issue with me.

Its just scary we have a pro hunting face book page and a canned south african lion hunter - both seeking their 15 minutes of fame and using a picture of the web with a false story. The fraud lion hunter claimed it was his son to boot - how do you claim someones else child of the internet as your own and make up a story of hunting in africa.

This is the pro hunting side - damn the anti hunting people who circulated the picture had the decency to blank out the kids face.
