At DSC, with a .450/.400 3" due any day, I really wanted the final word on the constuction of Hornady DG bullets (with all the discussion here and the alleged safari failures). I talked the guys manning the booth and they told me that they were most aware of the failures and had decided that the old style worked well and they were going back to it. Solids will be the old reddish copper color with a thick steel lining (but better than Woodleigh?) and since the old Interlocks worked, they'd go back to them, too. This was from .375 caliber on up. ( I think he meant 9.3, too, but didn't say so?) The also said that all they were awaiting to start making the .450/.400 ammo was a delivery of materials that they expected promptly. They also said that .404 Jeffery and 9.3x62 were seriously being looked at since some changes in production techniques would allow a smoother "creation" of a new product and an easier transition from caliber to caliber than in the past. I'll believe it when I see it, but the guy was looking me in the eye when talking to me, taking notes of my comments???? JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

A reasonably priced .423 325-350 gr spitzer would be great. I'm not holding my breath though. analog_peninsula ----------------------- It takes character to withstand the rigors of indolence.

Howdy Ernest, glad to see you made it home safe as well. The old hornady steel solid had a great reputation, but the Interlock was just "fair." At least Hornady saw the light on the "Interbomb" issue and maybe Nosler will realize their "Accubomb" isn't much better. Say, did you make it over to the Hein booth and look at that 404? jorge USN (ret) DRSS Verney-Carron 450NE Cogswell & Harrison 375 Fl NE Sabatti Big Five 375 FL Magnum NE DSC Life Member NRA Life Member

I also had several good visits with Mike at the Hornady booth. He is the manager for bullet production. I suggested that they might think about doing a 450gr SP, .458", for Winnie users and those who might want something in between the 400 and 500gr. He had a favorable reaaction to that idea. We'll have to wait to see if that will come to pass. Keith IGNORE YOUR RIGHTS AND THEY'LL GO AWAY!!! ------------------------------------ We Band of Bubbas & STC Hunting Club, The Whomper Club

I've got quite a few boxes of .458 Lott Interbonds. I wonder if Hornady would like to trade them for some Interlocks.

Texas Hunter, I'm with you. I have seen the failure firsthand. I decided I'd just just the Hornady's to punch some paper and get some Barnes loaded for the "paper" that'll bite back.
