If so, I would like to open the very first (of many I hope) real time arm chair quarterbacking thread of quite possibly the greatest hunt ever to be recorded.

505, If you are talking about the bow hunt for lion, the bad first shot, the long follow-up and the slow death for a regal dangerous game animal, I found it unethical and disheartening…leave the frickin bow at home when hunting dangerous game…it proves nothing IMO. Not a show I normally watch but just happened to sit down for a break…it will be my last episode... Paul "Diligentia - Vis - Celeritas" NRA Benefactor Member Member DRSS

Don't like watching that show. For some reason, the two hosts rub me the wrong way.

One of them is really hard to take. The other is fair. Show is not one I watch any longer. Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.

i guess it's just me but if the animal hunted requires someone with a rifle to back up the first shot FOR SAFETY REASONS- IT SHOULD BE HUNTED WITH A RIFLE TO BEGIN WITH!!!!! if a bow hunter really wants to test his skill/courage, forget the backup and follow his shot and finish it off if necessary-BY HIMSELF! of course this s illegal in Africa for a damn good reason- dead hunters are bad for business Vote Trump- Putin’s best friend… To quote a former AND CURRENT Trumpiteer - DUMP TRUMP

I usually dont watch it. I certinaly wasnt going to watch another tame lion being shot while hiding under a bush. I went outside and shot my bow instead. I have walked in the foot prints of the elephant, listened to lion roar and met the buffalo on his turf. I shall never be the same.

One thing I found interesting was that the words "South Africa" were never mentioned, rather, the area was referred to as "The Kalahari".....

They always say Kalahari, sounds like real hunting. Are we the only ones who hunt wild lions on TV. I'm serious. Well, to be honest Shockey does, maybe others but the list is real short! Dave Fulson

Dave: Your show is the best because it profiles real customers, not the same guy pulling the trigger over and over. Under Wild Skies is a well done show, but after Makris shoots his 354th elephant, it becomes a bit monotonous. It is also monotonous to watch the same animals shot week after week, another reason I stopped watching Wild Skies. You overdid it on buffalo and location a year ago, but I think you listened to feedback and made some adjustments. I used to leave Outdoor Channel on while in my trophy room, but most of it is so bad, I just DVR the shows I want to watch. Even then, I don't watch them all. I wonder how shows like Western Extreme even get sponsors.

Probably because it's difficult to film a real lion hunt? There are so many countries in the world that offer great hunting. Why don't they hunt a little bit off the beaten path. It's always the same stuff.

If anybody knows how difficult it is to film real life no shit hunting it's Dave Fulson!

I know, that's why i'm asking him . Is that the reason they like filming canned stuff?

Possibly swinging the pendulum a little to far the other way. Lately all I've seen are elephants, more elephants, and even more elephants being shot. Different clients, but the same PHs. IMHO, "Tracks . . . " could spend a bit more time (other than the 60 second break-away) to educate - trip planning and preparation, etc. Maybe a 'Africa First Timer's segment'

Yes is the answer. We have filmed so many 21 day lion hunts where, despite our very best efforts a lion of a certain age or mane size never came to bag. Cameraman costs, their travel expenses, park and government fees and the like are right out the window. But the one day South African 100% successful lion safari is a cannot miss "show" and it obviously is a powerful lure to most producers as proven by the constant stream of these shows. Ivan recently spent 21 days filming in one of the better Tanzanian blocks for lion. They had, I believe, 4 five year old males on camera that were simply bruisers in both body and mane, yet did not pull the trigger due to the six year old rule in place. We are going to make a show in this case, as both the action and conservation message are strong, but that is the exception for us. But many times we come up with a very expensive NO SHOW. I know you guys get it, and it is appreciated tremendously by our team. But the majority of folks do not, and wonder why the Tracks boys can't shoot those monster maned lions like the rest of the shows. SERENITY NOW!!!! LOL Dave Fulson

Dave, The "no lion" shows are rather obvious: client is on a 21 day in Tanz...shoots leopard but not lion. It isn't tough to figure out, but it takes nothing away from the show. Mark Young once said, "You have to see the safari unfold." Those are great words and it applies in spades to a well filmed hunt. Not all are successful, and to me, it adds to the show. I watch "On Your Own Adventures" because it isn't predictable, even though Randy is too often the guy pulling the trigger (but not always).

I agree 100%. Jim Burnworth is a smug arrogant braggart. He celebrates after every kill like he just scored the winning TD in the Superbowl. He's big on canned hunts, whether it's Africa or elk. Jesus saves, but Moses invests

Dave: I watched Sports Afield last night; good show, even though Steve H. didn't get a ram. You never know till the end of the hunt...or the end of the show.

Agreed! The Sports Afield show is well produced, and offers those of us that like to see hunts from around the globe, alot of variety. Good job - Safari Classics.

+1 I can't stand the guy, let alone understand what he's saying. I saw him at a sportshow one year and he was just running around trying to get free hunts from outfitters. Very arrogant IMO. Don't like his partner either.
