My 14 year old daughter keeps asking when she can go on safari with me. She is set of hunting buffalo, and has been practicing with a 308 we use here. I was given a Sako M10 rifle, so decided to give it to her. I gave her a set of scope mounts, and asked her to pick a scope for it, and install it herself. She did that all that, and sighted in her rifle. The look on her was priceless when she finished that. Then she asked if we can blow full cans up, as she has seen me doing that and taking a video of the explosion. I thought a 220 Swift would be better at this, than a 308 Winchester. I got the Swift out, and asked her to try it on a target first, then she can shoot cans with it. This was her first group with the 220 Swift. The rifle was a Remington 40X. Hessa shooting empty 308 brass at 35 meters with a 22 bolt action rimfire The above video was taken a few years ago. She fired 10 shots, and hit only six cases. I sent her out to put ten more, gave her another 10 rounds, and asked her to do better, and get all of them. I was telling her in shooting one only competes with himself, so all one has to do is make every shot counts. Sadly, I did not listen to myself about this shooting competitive trap in the States. I ended the year with a 99.5% average! Why the hell have I missed those few is beyond me

She's a sharp shooter that one. Well done Hessa ------------------------------ A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Sure you can. All you have to do is get yourself a decent rifle, and put a scope on it. Yesterday we had a number of teenage kids here who wanted to shoot. They shot several rifles, ranging from 22 rim fire, 223 Remington, 308 Winchester and a 300 Winchester Magnum. One of Hessa's class mates and her best friend, shot a cover leave 3 shot group with Hessa's M10 Sako! She beat all the boys

Saeed Is a .375 the minimum for Buffalo in Tanzania? Has Hessa ever shot your 375/404? Yes, the 375 is the minimum, and when we decide she is coming, I can reload some specific ammo for her. And for Cal, Every single large caliber rifle we have built here is capable of shooting at least a 0.5 inch group, using our own Walterhog bullets. These include calibers up to the 460 Weatherby Magnum.

Wonderful shooting and your are a lucky man Saeed! I would agree with initially using a muzzle brake to get the kids confidence on a big bore but also with very good hearing protection to stop them getting scared or a flinch. I used one on my .375/505 to get the kids used to it in their mid teens and now they are both comfortable with big bores ( one is 16) and this last year they shot happily plains game and elk. Nothing beats hunting and traveling with ones kids in Africa!

That is what I found most of the time I would rather instruct a gal that wants to learn then a lot of their male counter parts. I think that when you get her over there you well find her cool and very deadly.

Great choice of rifles for Hessa to shoot, Saeed. I own a Remington 40X in .223 that I've had for 20+ years. It comes from the Remington Custom Shop with its test targets. The largest group my .223 shot was .29" at 100 yards. Jesus saves, but Moses invests

Sawed, the only thing I'm going to say is that it would be a shame to take her on her first Safari with anyone other than Roy beside her. You certainly can think of all the reasons why. I'd do it while Roy is still going over every year.
