Tanzania Triple Play
Just returned from Tanzania two days ago. Will post the trip report in the next week or so but thought I would go ahead and post a couple of pictures. Russell (Hunter Formerly Known as Texas Hunter) and I had a great trip. The focus was buffalo and here are pictures of the three buffalo I shot.

Looks like a great hunt, nice trophies. Your third pictured buffalo really has some character, very nice bull.

Congrats on your buff... look forward to your report.

Use Enough Gun
I see that you have a fiber optic front sight on your Ruger. NECG front sight? Did you have to use the iron sights on your hunt?

Thanks for the kind words. The first and third buffalo were hard bossed, mature bulls, with the third having a 13"+ boss. The second was alittle soft, but still a nice trophy with alot of mass.

Use Enough Gun, the front sight is in fact an NECG fiber optic sight. I also carried with me the NECG Ruger peep sight in case of a scope problem, but never had to use it.

Excellent animals! Looks like Texas Taxidermists are going to be doing a whole herd of Buff this year! Hope to add to the score next weekend! Congrats, Lee.

Who are you using for the taxidermy? We are planning to use Brush Country.

Have any of the Houston hunters used B&B Taxidermy off 290? I have heard some great things about their work.

Bwanamrm, I have used B&B Taxidermy since 1995. Mike Baird has done over 40 African animals for me and they are first CLASS! Everything from a full-mounted Bongo to a Red Flanked duiker.

Thanks, Mike. Glad to hear a ringing endorsement. Others I have spoken with said the same including my old taxidermist turned fur dresser here in Victoria.

Fla3006,

I took the .500 NE but the brush was so thick I felt more comfortable with a scoped rifle. It was hard enough to pick them out with a scope much less open sights. Maybe a double next time. Smiler

RIP
Mike,
Way to go. clap

Nice looking RSM, third generation with .750" muzzle diameter, eh?

I had one of those NECG fiber optic beads on my Ruger .416 Rigby. However I had some stray solvent (Gun Scrubber) get on it and it melted and shattered. Very fragile they are. I replaced it with a big white NECG grandpa bead.

The Action leather slip-on pad is what I have on mine too. Looks comfortable and familiar. I used some brown leather dye on the entire leather to eliminate the brighter butt piece, blended together nicely.

My .416 RSM was a great one-shot killer for my only cape buffalo.

Congratulations again, on a great adventure. thumb

I used B&B for everything from last year's trip:2005 Big 5

Their work for me from the years before that was also top notch.

Say hello to Mike and Jo for me.
