WTF
Don't you boys have anything better to talk about, or is everyone's life so empty all they have is to ask questions of or trash a public figure?

It is all about this, and it takes on many forms and degrees/levels.

Full Definition of JEALOUSY

1: a jealous disposition, attitude, or feeling

2: zealous vigilance

Crazy:

Gee, you forgot the other meaning: a feeling of unhappiness and anger caused by a belief that a loved one might be unfaithful.

Let's get one thing straight. I am not jealous of anyone who pursues something and leaves a trail of collateral damage because he/she is blinded by a single focus. That goes for hunting, wealth accumulation, physical pursuits, etc.

I am sure lots of folks were "jealous" of Madoff...until they saw how he got there. Like I said, values matter a lot to me. How you got where you are matters to me.

Next time one of my customers tells me they are not going to buy our software and/or services maybe I should hold up my hand and say, "Wait...you are just jealous of me, right? Jealous that I pay more in taxes than you probably make. Jealous that I don't have to work for the man, and you do? Jealous I can go on vacation whenever I want. Jealous that I can retire today if I wanted to and you can't?"

How far would that get me?

Yeah, this jealousy crap is laughable. I notice Gayne C Young won't answer the question "what are we supposed to be jealous of". I think it was his idea of self flattery.

I've avoided most of the crap on this topic because it's just that - crap.
I asked for questions.
Lots of people gave us good ones. To them, thanks.
Then, as with a lot of stuff on the internet, it turned 180 degrees into all kinds of insults, mostly against Craig.

Some people seem to enjoy tearing down others. I get that. I'm just not into it.

As for the jealousy issue, yeah, lots of people tell me they wish they had my job. Most use the words "I'm so jealous of" what you do, how you earn a living.

I also get this from a lot of the kids I talk to.

Again, I don't get how "Ask Craig Boddington" runs five pages with most of it being shit thrown his way or people arguing with the shit throwers about why they threw shit. I've got better things to do than argue or join in.

BUT BEFORE I GO...think about this. We are all on this site because we are passionate about the outdoors in one form or another. Everything we post on here is on the internet FOREVER! It will never go away. I'd rather my posts on here be records of my love of the outdoors and hunting. Not hosing some guy because of his personal finances or failed marriages. Imagine what NON-HUNTERS will think when they dig all this up. Instead of us portraying ourselfs as true conservationists, we've come across as a bunch of school aged gossiping bitches. Yes, people can write what they want about whoever they want online but...come on folks. Are we helping the cause or hurting it by doing that?

Why?

How has what Boddington done in his life affected YOU in any way?

Each of us does or should lead our individual life as We choose, it is not the prerogative of the "Committee".

You chose to be a writer, did you let anyone make that decision for you?

Did you let anyone dissuade you from making that decision, evidently not.

Have YOU ever done ANYTHING in your life that you would not be proud of, or that you would NOT want aired out on this site?

Does it matter to you if, say, someone was a major philanthropist but they got their money from drug trafficking?

What about idolatry?

The same hero worship we observe with Mark Sullivan, apparently also applies to Boddington.

I think Johnny was the first to mention the bankruptcy and a lot of people rushed to admonish him. What if you were one of his creditors, would you think he is a great guy?

I personally like Boddington, but I do not understand the idolatry.

Have you never made a mistake or a bad decision in your life?

How would you feel if that mistake or decision was thrown out here for the AR Kangaroo Court to judge you buy?

Another page or two and people will be comparing him to Charles Manson to prove their point. I've never seen such extreme positions on subjects in everyday life. But come on here and you are satan if you bounced a check.

You make good points here. I have made mistakes and I would not want those mistakes to be scrutinized by AR.

I just think the bankruptcy is relevant. Would you write Boddington a check for $5,000 for a deposit on a hunt that takes place in two years?

I truly like the guy, I just don't see why he is like Mark Sullivan, Jr.

Ever figure that a person can learn from their mistakes?

I am not one to put a lot of faith or trust into many people, but that is just me.

I do figure everyone deserves a second chance in life, but sometimes a person simply has to take a chance and hope it works out.

Many folks that have made similar mistakes to Boddington's have turned their lives around and came out smelling like a rose, while others just keep on making one mistake right after another, often the same type mistakes.

Best thing I can think of is the old "Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged".

Maybe you, me, or anyone else on here have faced similar troubles or may face them, would you want your mistakes held against you and openly aired just because you gained some fame/notoriety?

Gayne:

Having been blessed and honored to have worked with real heroes, I don't need to find them in books, the internet, or let others tell me how to identify one. Since I have made some mistakes in my life I resist the urge to judge people I do not personally know. I am appalled and saddened by some of the comments I am seeing on AR and it appears that if the anti-hunting/anti-gun groups will be patient, they can just sit back and watch us destroy ourselves. If I have offended you, please put me on your ignore list. I have found that function to be ever so useful. With those disclaimers, I have some questions and comments.

Gayne: - Your book "And Monkeys Threw Crap at Me" is one of the most hilarious books I have ever read. When will you do a follow up book?
- As a man who enjoys a good drink, can you please use your all-powerful influence to get some decent single malt whisky and real Champagne available at the DSC Convention Bars? Especially the Banquets!? If you can pull that one off, I will gift you an all inclusive, free dram from the flask I allegedly carry at all times. Big Grin

For you and CB to discuss: Hunting and gun ownership are very emotional issues and have been getting a lot of negative press lately. What are some things that the average Joe can do to improve the image of gun owners and hunters? What can we do to prevent a repeat of "Cecil-gate"?

For CB: The wife and I really enjoy the new show that features you, your daughter and the Dr. The tips from the Dr. are interesting. On the recent California pig hunting show, were you as surprised as everyone else when you made that shot on your pig? Wink

Thanks...........Larry

I hope to have "Blood, Sweat, and Alcohol: More Adventures in Hunting, Fishing, and Writing" out by Jan. 1

I'm no longer with DSC employment wise (now with Texas Sporting Journal magazine) so not much I can do on the booze issue but will take a hit from that flask!

Hope this might be asked in the next event

Craig - it's a fact that shooting rifles with out ear protection damages hearing. What is your view on hearing protection while hunting and if you had your time again what would you do both to protect your ears better and to encourage the shooting fraternity to do so too?

I'll admit to a hope that one of these days we'll have a code of practice for our media that only shows photos of hunters with trophies and rifles IF they have plainly obvious ear protection on show too.

AR crowd is known as the rude light weights in the hunting business - all talk and no money to buy anything.

Wonder why all these damn outfitter, gun sellers, booking agents hang out here and get insulted by the light weights.

Heard africanhunting.com is where the big money hangs out. Might need to buy a banner ad but all rude comments are deleted.

I have sent Craig a few emails and he has returned them. I guess he gets a lot of mail.

I don't make a habit of emailing about stupid stuff to anyone, and I have only emailed twice that I can remember.

I asked him about this "harvest" nonsense, and I think the other thing I asked him about was the "Ed Weatherby" brake incident in the 1980's when the 416 Weatherby came out.

Gayne, my only question for Craig is the same one I asked him when I met him in 2008....

"When is Craig going to do a Asia book and a sheep book?"
