Well if the "volunteer EC" doesn't respond, because of their lofty positions or busy schedules, perhaps it is time to contact Phil Delone, the hired CEO ie Executive Director. He has an obligation to respond to formal inquiries and complaints to SCI.

Here is Phil's e-mail: Phil@SCI.org

FYI, there is a movement underway by HEAVY HITTER Exhibitors to develop and implement an Exhibitor Bill of Rights. It is just in the formative state right now and they have asked for an attorney to assist in formalizing it. I think it is too early to post here yet, but it is coming. Someone will post it when the time is right. This would checkmate this type of motivations in the future.....

Rather than writing to the EC, I have written to my Chapter President and copied others that will present the message to two other Chapters. I have a phone call scheduled to Phil Delone.

Cheers,

The best way to be a "heavy hitter" is to not go to the SCI moneyfest and go to DSC.

Tell the world what they tried to do and leave them.

Apparently you missed my point in using HEAVY HITTERS....these are the biggest donors of hunts, etc., and CAN cut SCI off at the pockets to a point it will HURT BIG TIME!!

I am hearing rumblings of some Exhibitors, all paid up, being NO SHOWS at 2015 Show??!! We'll see, they may have poked the DRAGON once too many times already!!

Cheers,

The plan is/was to:

1- Stop advertising
2- Withdraw donations (hunts) and give the minimum cash donations which is something like $800.

There is a LONG list of both agents and outfitters. There are, in fact, some really big names. I believe this got the EC's attention.

I am told that there are some booth cancellations as well as cancellations of donations. I think this got their attention.

Contrary to what some think, a handful of AR members had a hell of a lot to do with this.

If I was an exhibitor & donor, I would want a clause in the contract protecting me from any such efforts by SCI in the future.

There is no way I would pay up with the knowledge that they could under cut me or worse next year!

I think this is the best opportunity to clean out SCI top brass and the whole structure of the "club".

This would be the first year Joyce and I would be able to attend more than 1 1/2 days. I just booked the hotel. I will wait to buy my show passes.

If there ends up being a substantial withdraw of exhibitors we will simply enjoy Vegas for a week and skip the show.

You want a bet?

I guarantee you if all exhibitors got together and demanded this, with the threat that they will not accept SCI's draconian rules, SCI's bigwigs will have no alternative but to cave in.

About time someone gave them a kick where it really hurts.

Another alternative is for DSC to find a bigger place for their exhibition, as they have such a long waiting list.

Once they can accommodate more exhibitors, SCI will loose practically everyone - except, of course, those who have a PROUD MEMBER OF SCI displayed on their websites.

The same crooks who supply "trophies" on demand to satisfy the sick egos of the "inner circles" members clap

It's the exhibitor's right to bend over and take it. They aren't going to be able to "implement" a Bill of Rights on SCI. So long as the same management and mindset are in place it will remain business as usual.

Don't be so sure!!! When a couple hundred exhibitors withhold hunt/adventure donations, and cease advertising in future SCI publications - one might be surprised what gets done. How do you think SCI OUTDOORS got stopped so quickly in the first place????? Nothing is set in stone, but I believe this little stunt was finally the straw that broke the camel's back with many long time exhibitor/member/donors.

Aaron,

I think this will certainly give the guys running SCI a wake up call from their slumber!

PROVIDED all of those couple of hundred exhibitors stick together and form one front.

You are doing a great job, don't give them any slack!

Enough is enough.

This episode is as stupid as what Reed did at the Harrisburg show. 170 exhibitors boycotted and the show was shutdown. So it can happen.

I have had an interesting discovery.

Mr. Kelso is prominently mentioned in the transcript of Larry Rudolph's meeting with other SCI board member. See page 63 of the transcript.

One has to wonder. Kelso suddenly testifies against Rudolph years after whatever this event was happens. Then Kelso gets a job with SCI.

Things that make you go hmmmmmm...............

Here we are endlessly pointing out how so far removed from reality the SCI bigwigs.

They spring this most stupid of idea on us.

A storm brews against it and them.

And what do they answer?

"WE did not know about it. It was hidden in 100 pages of other discussion"

Now they know about it, what do they do?

"Suspend"it.
"It is under review"

Is there ANYONE around who can actually put two and two together and comes up with four still think these bozos are capable of running this organization?

I totally agree with you Mike.

SCI is becoming more and more and more irrelevant, regardless of how much they scream of what "they" are doing for us hunters.

FIRST FOR HUNTERS?

Should be changed for

FIRST FORT ME ME ME, LOOK AT ME crowd!

If they STILL cannot see the time of day regarding this subject, there is absolutely no hope for them whatsoever!

Mike,

Apparently so many outfitters, guides and PH have seen the time of day, and are in the process of giving your heroes their well past dues.

I am not surprised you do not like this one little bit.

We agree!!

My last note to the Executive Committee:

Good afternoon,

I was certainly gratified to hear that the Executive Committee had the courage to suspend further pursuit of SCI Outdoors. It was an ill-founded idea that candidly should have never gotten as far along as it did in its development. Now I think it is incumbent on the Executive Committee to do the right thing and announce, not that the effort is being suspended, but that it is being abandoned. Until this step is taken there will continue to be dissension, dissatisfaction and frankly distrust over the prospect that this divisive notion will be resurrected. You have taken the right first step, now it is time to take the next.

Thank you.

Of particular interest perhaps to some I suspect. SCI's unanimously approved SCI OUTDOORS budget to get this little project off the ground - $645,000.00!!!!!!!! That's unbelievable!!!!!!! That is a ton of money, generated mostly from the sales of hunt donations/booth spaces and ad sales - all provided by exhibitors. shocker

I would think there's a lot of good conservation efforts that could benefit from $645,000.00, wouldn't you? After all, SCI is suppose to be a conservation organization - not a for profit biz, correct?

That is just ridiculous. This fiasco should leave little doubt in anyones mind that the current SCI executive is completely out to lunch.

I hope that the membership uses this incident to continue to push for change and get the organization back on track, but I won't hold my breath.

The EC voted to permanently suspend SCI Outdoors. It may need a board vote at the next meeting in August to be "official", but rest assured it IS dead.

Fantastic news Brett!

Thank you for letting us know.

I still like to know how they managed to approve this in the first place with a budget of $645,000.

I know how they claimed it had happened, but I somehow doubt many actually believe that little fib.

Make no mistake, we need SCI more than ever. If they truly become "First for Hunters", they will grow and be a force for hunters rights.
