I had a hard top Jag E type for a while, pale Blue, sort of a strange looking thing I always thought. But it was so cozy inside, a really lovely car to cruse in.

Don't forget a "Little work" on an old Jag can be a whole Lot of Cash. Get the thing up in the air and have a SERIOUS dig around underneath before you even think about it.

I shouldn't have been so flippant, ES.

The answer is no, and the reason is anonimity.

This is good, but I hate keyboard bragging!!

I don't care what kind of bow/rifle you shoot.

I know you went to Africa, Alaska, ect. you told us 100 times!

I never ever wanted to hear what kind of car/motorcycle you have or had.

Yes you are (enter age here). I don't care how old you are. Age does not equal knowledge.

Soooo you went to college? Witch one? No wait…..I don’t care!

Hunting is not a test of skill. There are no grades given.....

Unless however you are a keyboard bragger.

There are many of those around here. Some have so many post I find it hard to believe they hunt at all!!!

There was a time, early '70s, when I thought I couldn't go on living another day without owning a Jag..but I wound up with an MGB. It was what I could afford.

The love affair with the E-type ended for me when they put those big rubber bumpers on that stuck out the front. And the early pollution controls required on the V-12 in the states didn't help matters either. Otherwise, I thought they were the best looking things ever put on wheels.

Remember all those neat little toggle switches and the unique leather smell of the interior?

Nganga,

when I got the XKE coupe, there was a '68 Roadrunner Coupe sitting next to it in my garage.
That was your paradox.
I bought that jaguar in the summer of 1972 for $3000, and it was flawless. Other than the Lucas electrics of course. Back in those days, if people knew you owned a brit bike or car they used to pray for you if you left on a trip that lasted late into the night. "Prince of Darkness" they called him at the Jaguar dealership in St Louis. I had a Trident a little later, rememember the white ones with the yellow arc on the tanks? BSA Hurricanes and all that.
If you were a bit of a gearhead with a decent job, there were all sorts of neat things to be had in the early seventies. I remember looking at two Hemi Challengers in the St Louis Post one Saturday at the same house. One stick, one automatic, take your pick for $2200. I should have bought the red automatic. Column shift Torqueflite, bench seat, and delete shaker options. I had two Talladega Torinos in a storage barn at one time, sitting next to a '69 Charger 500 (the NASCAR special). Had about $1400 in the three of them and they all ran pretty stout.
Met this girl at school that lived about forty miles north of our farm. Went to get her on a date one Friday afternoon, saw this long nose poking out from underneath a tarp at an Apple Orchard on the way. Stopped with her on the way back, she knew the family. It was a maroon Talladega with a genuine dual quad 427 with a four speed. $300, guy said the engine was locked up. Took it home, my Father and I soaked the engine in kerosene for two days, drained the crankcase, filled it with W30 and it fired up and ran. Drove about twenty miles, went home, drained the oil and refilled it. I drove the car two years and sold it to a guy named Wayne Curry. You midwest guys know Wayne. He lived on an old farm, in a singlewide trailer. There was a huge barn, and he had more than forty Shelby GT's and six or seven Cobras inside.
He even owned one of the USRRC touring 289's. Shelby had to make a certain number that would hold two suitcases a certain shape and size. Those cars had a trunk that had squared off corners to make the luggage fit around a huge gas tank.
Yes, I had a Ford Cobra too. Those were the days...

It's more specific than that. There's a forum specifically for my A12 M-code 440-6 Roadunner (and Dodge Supperbee's of the same street racer package.)
Liftoff hood playground

Then there's the registry. I'm car 107.

A12 registry

Then for generic Mopar only stuff.

Red with twin black hood stripes. Mine was an early one, it had the satin finish chrome panel full decklid width. Mine got the 6-pak transplant when the '83 went south on me. Came out of a 71 R/T Charger. Even though it was a TF it did get the aluminum intake. As a mid-1969 introduction the entire package was just a $219 dollar option on a hardtop. I got my build sheet out from under the back seat, am radio, P/s, P/B, torqueflite, 3:91 w/posi and upgraded all vinyl bench seat. $298X.

ElandSlayer: Well there you have it. Universal harmony on AR in the "Auto Forum." You created it with this thread and then a couple car nuts in here steered your post in another direction, finding bliss underneathe the hoods of their muscle cars.

Give em' time though. They'll eventually find something to disagree with, which will lead to road rage, and this entire post will take a new turn. But for now it's nice to see them all getting along with their ponytails flapping in the wind, wearing their leather coats and Ray-Ban aviators.

Don't know what this has to do with hunting---but on second thought maybe I do. Old farts can still pickup young chicks behind the right wheel with the right ammo. Just come to SCI in Reno and walk the aisles and that becomes perfectly clear. I always knew it wasn't "IF" but "HOW" you get to the finish line.

Okay 1fun, educate me.

It's not a 435H tri-power or an 430H L-88?
I came home from my first tour, bought the RR and went to the drags. Ended up parking next to a ZL-1 yellow '69 Camaro. IIRC, they were a single 4-barrel 427, but COPO? Is the vette one of those things?

Rich

seems completely normal to me that the post turned into a car thread. After my 2008 safari,, my wife came home one afternoon with a new corvette,,, she said, " This is my Africa" and I said and you look great in it, and continue to take and plan more hunts, most guys need a larger trophy room, I just need a larger garage,,,I get to drive it when it needs gas or washing,,, fair with me,,

In 69 1/2 the A12 liftoff hood 440 - 6 package cost $462.80. A Hemi alone was $714.00. Considering the 440-6 was a better street racing light to light package, especially with the 410 Dana, It's no surprise they sold well. Production was limited by Edlebrock not being able to produce the hirise manifold fast enough.

In 1970 Mopar switched to a Cast manifold of their own to solve the problem.
