I took my only buff to date with a bow and arrow.I'd have to consider a 30:06 with 200 grain solids extreme overkill.

Did you have a "solid" lined up in the quiver for the stopping shot?

Not sure how to answer that.My broadheads were solid (not vented) but my shaft was hollow.It did weigh considerably more than 200 grains however.

As an experienced shooter who knows nothing other than what I've read about Cape Buffalo, I can see a 220 grain .30-06 solid dropping a buff if the shot placement is exact. The .30-06 isn't to be sneezed at.

I was just being fatuous. Two weeks ago I watched Dangerous Game on Big Game Thursdays on OLN and watched a Buff take FOUR body shots with a .500 Nitro, and one shot from a .416 Rigby. I've got to say, I DO NOT want to consider a '06 for that job, even though a .223 Rem. in the right spot would drop one in it's tracks. A smaller caliber just doesn't give much room for error.
