So now that I have gone and killed an elephant and hippo I need to know what kind of permits will be needed to get these critters home. I went to the gov. forms and it clearly states that one does not need a cites import permit to import elephant trophies taken in Namibia. I want to import elephant tusks and hippo tusks. So what's the scoop? We seldom get to choose But I've seen them go both ways And I would rather go out in a blaze of glory Than to slowly rot away! | ||

To my knowledge, you don't need a CITES import permit for either of these coming from Namibia (elephant from TZ does, but not Namibia), but you do need a CITES export permit from Namibia. That should all done on the outfitters end though, but you will receive copies of the permits with your paperwork. Congratulations on the trophies, and great hunt report!
